....just to see the look on their faces when you pull it into the garage for the annual state inspection!

Round that part of the state, I'd not expect too much reaction. Lots of military stuff used to be pretty readily available from a lot just North of Chambersburg and over to the East near Letterkenny used to be a place you buy just about anything....

Speaking of operational costs.... A P51 will cost you between 2-3 million dollars with maintenance costs around 2000.00 per flight hour!

Nice, Sarge, and certainly a bit more practical. While the fuel cost would most likely be gallons/mile, and the maintenance cost would be substantial, the upside is you could give the sprout-eaters a hell of a rumble for a parking spot down at Trader Joe's...

The nice thing is the engine components are available, for example. It's a Jaguar engine and a regular transmission rather than push-lever hydrostatic drives in tracked vehicles. Otherwise it is very silly. :D :D

That simple attribute underlies far too many actions by far too many men. I fully expect to see it back next to the garage sometime in August and/or parked outside the Strasburg show.

Sarge, I heard back from Cavscout8 about the tank:
We only escorted it to Kuwait, and everything goes to Camp Arifjon. I was based up on the border, so that was the last I ever saw it.
There have been IFV's sitting there for years because there's no one to wash them off so they can get shipped back.
This was two and a half years ago. It -might- be cleaned, shipped, and refurbished; but I doubt it. I don't think it'll surface for years, if ever.

Chicken dance?

OK... time for another desert flower.

Ironwood (Olneya tesota)

Ironwood is one of the largest and longest-lived Sonoran Desert plants, reaching 45 feet in height and living as long as 1,500 years.

I don't know why the wimpy herbaceous annual pea would be in the same family as a magnificent tree with wood so dense and hard it sinks in water?
Just because the trees here in the desert produce pea pods for their fruit does not make them peas. [opinion]
If putting trees in the same family as peas was a good idea, why aren't apple trees in the same family as strawberry plants? They both have red fruit!
