Happy New Years Day to my hobo brothers!!! A mess of pork sausage headed for the smoker with black-eyed peas, cole slaw, and corn bread being fixed up with it.

Jon, careful with those leering green faces!

Hey, the cart just pulled up. I'll talk with you after I order.

Keep an eye out for the big salamander.

Maine had a five-hour power outage yesterday. We fired up my favorite railroad lantern, Boston and Maine, the logo even cast into the glass chimney, a gift from a certain hobo. Thanks, buddy, and the best for 2012! Keep your weather eye out for the BS (big salamander). I just lit it now, because.

Nothing like low-tech to work in a pinch. I use my P&R RR in similar circumstance. Bet you were nice and warm too, with the oak crackling. Sometimes the old ways are the best.

It was a winter sky at dusk, scudding clouds gray and darker gray, cold wind in every crevice, sunlight so feeble it couldn't melt a pat of butter, let alone a woman's heart.

Well, home from my midnight traveling. Time to clean the fire, then spoon up next to the redhead, and bask in the peace and heat of her slow deep breathing.

Dirt,

Getting lyrical now.

Your words are sounding the way your photos look.

When will we see your stories?

Roger, appreciate the kind words, and it's fun to try to throw a couple of words together, but I've worked with writers, I know writers, a writer is a friend of mine. I, sir, am no writer.

That would be WAY more long hard work than I am capable of mustering.

All you have to do, Pete, is speak, and we recognize its truth right away, like in your photographs. Thus, you are an artist, a gentleman, and a writer - an artist of words, as well as of the camera.

Dirt,

SEE!Even Murph the English teacher sees it.

I was a pretty fair high/middle school band director for 43 years and a tuba player for 62 years.

I can recognize talent. There is a huge number of talented folks who participated on this forum and there is no way that I will try to name any more.I'm probably already in trouble for even mentioning such things.I once made a short list of the various professions of some of the members whose professions I knew.It was a formidible group.IMHO the talents of these people are seldom recognized.
I could go on but would really mess up something.OK Roush,SHUT UP.

Yup! Truth is beauty and beauty is truth; foul is fair and fair is foul; and rose is a rose is a rose and by any other name would smell as sweet....and n'er the twain shall meet.
