Sarge,

Justin Bieber is the latest teenage heart throb. He has several albums out.
Check him out here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Bieber

Roger,

I edited my post to remove the picture because...

Lucas fixed the link. No need to keep posting the picture over and over (that would be kind of stupid wouldn't it?)

I heard a crowd laughing when I read your post... who are they?

Oh, there it is again!

And again!

Talk about stupid... all those laughing smilies just amuse me to no end.

Wayne, does stupidity irritate you?

Tramp,

Yes it does, all the more so because I am not immune from stupidity myself. The following is a good example. Roger and I both like the laughing smilies. I called myself stupid for liking stupid laughing smilies, so it follows that I think Roger is stupid, which I do not. I am so stupid I did not see the connection until Roger responded with:

My apologies. I do not think you are stupid, just your laughing smilies, but, as I told Tramp, I like them, they make me laugh. Use them all you want. I like to joke about hearing a crowd laughing when you use a lot of them. You don't mind do you?

I asked the same question. Was sorry after hearing the answer. Just another sterling example of record company hype, over mixing in the studio, and teens "being unique" in a horde.

I'll go back to my Badlees and Death Metal now.

(With a little Buffett thrown in for good measure) :P

You're a thoughtful and a considerate, creative man, there, Mr. Wayne, and I'm all the bettah for knowing what I only suspected, now, thanx to your good offices, :P and I feel waaaay bettah, too. Yup. I'll bet you've listned to 'em all, too, huh. They look interesting, and I love the names, but can they sing - carry a tune, or js' scream teen-angst all over a clean stage? Eh? Huh? :?
:D
And as for "Island escapism," well, that suggests volumes of possibilities, even some w/out hundreds of tokes on a self-rolled prescription.

From what I know of Dimmu Borgir.......no.

However, a rather messy blood sacrifice on stage while summoning denizens of the lower circles of Hell..........probably, yes.

And, I confess to having listened to them all, except the Badlees........

Justin Bieber? Yuk!

I have just spent most of today listening to Viv Stanshall's full length version of "Sir Henry at Rawlinson End" followed by Kevin Ayers "Whatevershebringswesing" no that's not a typo, I especially recommend 'Song from the Bottom of a Well' and then Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells".

Where would I be without YouTube?

Bikermike!

Happy to see you back in the Jungle. Regarding your choice of movies and music... you can take the Englishman out of England but you can't take England out of the Englishman?

One of my favorite English understatements comes from Sir Henry at Rawlinson End, "Generally speaking, if I've eaten something I don't want to see it again." I felt the same way after listening to the Heavy Metal we were talking about above.

Thanks Wayne for the welcome. My all time favorite band comes from my home town of Hertford (county town actually - I went to school there but lived 8 miles out) and that band is Deep Purple. Now for all those who are thinking 'Smoke on the Water' - sigh - nothing wrong with it but try 'Perfect Strangers' or 'Bad Attitude' or 'Sweet Child in Time'. You really need to like classical music to really enjoy Purple, you'll recognize many of the riffs and transitions they use if you do like classical.
Such a talented band, so under rated. Yes, they're one of the loudest kick *** rock bands too but there's so much more to their stuff, most of their songs are anecdotal not just the usual crap. Brilliant keyboards, brilliant guitars, fabulous vocals.
