They can already hack your car now; most cars already have a connection in them for communications, WiFi, etc...
Does that have to do with control of the actual vehicle itself or just contact with the phone you may have aboard?
Some cars, both - this was something demonstrated a few years ago - nothing new. Alexa, start my car.....or that phone app that starts it remotely.
If it's got any connectivity, it can be exploited or will be. BTW, your toaster is spying on you.
