Are those Wayne's or San's 2 wheeler's. Hell ya don't need no brakes. We use to use our feet to stop on my ole' Western Flyer Balloon tired bike when the little bolt fell out that held the brake arm up till we fix it........................ Hell it even had a springer front end a Buck Rogers headlight and a horn that sorta sounds like the horn in my Lionel Santa Fe F-3................ 8)

Man....I wish I had that bike now...........................

Those are San's bikes. Pretty cool huh? If you count the spokes you will discover that the fixie has 32 on the front wheel while the 17 lb'der has 16. Every gram counts toward the total. I have been looking for a three spoke wheel. Your springer must have weighed 60 lbs. About half of that was for appearance and could have been removed. Maybe 26 lbs was STEEL. There is not much steel on San's 17 lb'der, but it does have shock absorbers. I wonder if he fills the tires with helium?

Hi Wayne,

They are called Zertz insets and can be easily bonded with carbon fiber. Do they do any good? Don't know. I would have to ride same frame construction and geometry without them. The white bike is a Roubaix Expert Compact and it is very comfortable on long rides. Some of that, I am sure, comes from a good fitting by Don O at B and L in Solana Beach.

Makes me wonder if the name was inspired by Zerk fitting. Those are the threaded nipples you use with your grease gun.

Now if I could just figure out the name of that flip cap thing on the gas tank of Super Cyclone ignition model aircraft engines.

I think it might be called a "Gitz Cap", but could be all wrong about that.

One (sorry, not train related) project for DST is going to be bringing out the Buzzard Bombshell and servicing the "Cyke".

It is called a fuel filler cap.

You got it except for spelling. It is a "Gits Cap."

Mr. Remi Gits established Gits Brothers Manufacturing Co. in Chicago in 1910. The first products were lubricating devices and oil cups, and in early advertising they claimed to be the "Original Designers of the Practical Spring Hinge Cup".

That last sentence is one of the most important statements ever made on any train forum.

San, Do you think they would have bought into him pedaling out there from PA?

Had San used my credentials, he not only woulda bought a jail cell, but they would have tossed the key.
