Hope you guys have made-up/made yourselves clear, because I don't believe for a New York split-second that EITHER of you have a malicious bone in your bodies, and especially here in the Jungle.
IMHO.

Pete,

Don't count on it. If I find out that you have something to do with my favorite tractor stock...

I suppose you and Mary get some dispensation for growing up in LA and not wearing rash guards if and when you are in the water in SoCal.

I was in a stroller at the time, but here is the Red Car just East of Centinela on its way West to Venice High School.

My mom would take me out at Beethoven Street and Venice Blvd to see them go by and occasionally we would ride one East to Vermont to see my Aunt Helen. Yes, I have K-Line Red Cars, but they are not at all accurate. When I was born, we lived near Dell Street and Grand Canal in Venice, but mom convinced dad that the canals were a slum and to move on up to the the "flat tops".

I had to take the MTA bus and the Red Cars were gone. I did suffer under the Jesuits there, but that's another story.

If you go to 3rdRail's website, you will see they are having something like these inter/intra-urban cars (?) made. I have been considering making a reservation for a set, but have hesitated. I'd appreciate your estimation of what is being offered; would you take a look, please?

Anyody else have an opinion on them?

Would these be the North Shore Silver Liners or the Green Liners? 3-car set for $1100..... I am sorely tempted to get a Green Liner set.

I have no preference, at this point, since I am from Pittsburgh, PA and have no particular allegiance to either name. Both seem interesting and remind me, a little bit, of the trolleys that served the extended metropolitan area of my youth. They are both remarkable, to me. The main drawback in purchasng such a unit is that I would have to remove a locomotive and its consist from one of my loops to accommodate an interurban, and that I am loathe to do.

Presently, I have a "doodle-bug," which I had specially customized for road name and to include a trailing car, and as much as I like it, Rufus, I only put it on the layout occasionally, even though I like it a whole lot when it is plying its route. (See attachment.) It has a nice "chug-chug" start-up sound - like somebody turned a key - and a hissing, whiny, swooshing, traveling sound which I appreciate for its uniqueness, too.

I can appreciate that problem - long past the point of overload and the weeding out process will begin again shortly.

Problem is that for every piece of rolling stock or engine I sell off, I just build some replacements,

Well, at least that probably (I assume) takes you some time to accomplish, more time than it takes me to belly-up ( and I mean belly) up to my LHS counter to say, "Set up, Joe." :?

Well, yes & no. I've got a sizable head start on the building side and tend to have 2-5 building projects running concurrently. And no, I can't compete with running out buying RTR stuff. However, I'd wager that 95%+ of what I build can not be bought either,

No doubt. I am sure they are priceless. Got pics?

P.S. I just ordered the "Silverliner" set (includes 2 coaches; 1 diner.) My wife encouraged me 8) to do so, which made the difference.

Here's a few pix that I left over on the 2-rail section

Works in reverse for me - I order or buy something and my wife asks what's getting sold to finance the deal and to make space,

RUFUS! Babe! Dude! Demi-god! Mastercraftsman! Each of those cars is breathtaking (Yes, I am yelling)! Beautiful; interesting; unique. I can only imagine what the whole train would look like as a consist. What would pull it?

I'm serious. That whole collection is so handsome it would insist on a layout that met its high standards. Imagine such a miniature world as one unified whole!

I am in awe, sir.

And you (!!!!) took the avatar of a comedian (though a highly intelligent one, of course) when all the while you are a man serious about his railroads. You sly-puss.

Congratulations. (I am soooooo glad I asked to see.)

Thanks, Murph!

There's probably another 4-5 cars in that set alone, but I never got around to posting pix of them. I have another 2-3 in the project queue as well.

What would pull them? I rarely run more than 5 cars at a time and I have two 2-8-0's that I like as well as a couple fo traction boxcabs that can easily handle that number of cars.

But, I do tend to build the unusual and unavailable by any other means cars since that provides my entertainment. And, I while have been known to take commissions to build cars for others, but I very seriously dislike that since it rapidly does become work.

Lastly, I even created a kit for building the basic flat car that's under just about each and every one of those other cars; it gets used in clinics that I do at conventions.
