Re: Favorite Movies
As for TV, there were a lot that ran under the "Law and Order" banner that were good, and "Homicide Life on the Street" for another.

Re: Favorite Movies
If we're doing TV too:
Star Trek, all of them
Scrubs, I've never laughed so hard at some of the things they came up with
Seinfeld, weird, just like I like it
NCIS, until all the good cast members left, haven't watched it since
Big Bang Theory. I only started watching it 2 years ago.
Hate reality shows, because they're not.
I will watch some golf and baseball, don't watch football because of all the hype.

Loved Seinfeld. So many of their mannerisms and gestures and expressions became part of the modern lexicon. Absolutely hated that farewell episode - so stupid and ill-suited to the story of the show and its characters. Awful, esp. when compared to the very, very well done final episode of "Six Feet Under." Now, THAT was an appropriate ending to a beloved series, IMO.
"Big Bang Theory" is a favorite of my wife's. I can't be in the same room when it's on. For real. It is the main character, Sheldon, that drives me away. I just cannot endure the depth of his vulgar self-absorption, self-focus, and self-love. He raises vain to a whole new level, like on the level of Hitler, IMunHO.
Now, if ya wanna talk kooky, I recommend (this 'ill get me admonished, I'm sure!) "Shameless." The father in this crazy, fun story is the worst father anybody could imagine. Yet, he is like a bad car accident - you are drawn to his mess and can't look away. Every character is, in their own way, a mess, but not as insidious as the father. I enjoy every one of them (except, maybe, that Russian father/husband?) and find myself sorry when the hour is up.
How 'bout "Madame Secretary"?

Sledge Hammer, only lasted one season back in the '80's. Absolutely hilarious.
Re: Favorite Movies
If we're discussing TV shows, I would highly recommend BBC America's Sherlock and Orphan Black.

Re: Favorite Movies
I don't think I listed "Lonesome Dove" as a favorite movie because it was made for TV.
IMHO I do think it is one of the best westerns, if not the best, ever made.

This Old Pyramid on PBS

This was the first in a series that included several episodes. In it they got various "experts" to demonstrate how they thought Stonehenge was built, how the Incas cut their perfectly fitted stone walls and built bridges and how obelisks were erected.
Entertaining and often downright funny.

You begin flying with a full bag of luck and an empty bag for experience. The object is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
