Remembering lost youth...
I still get chills when I hear Elvis tearing into "Hound Dog."

If you watched any episodes of Ken Burn's Country Music I'd bet you'd have gotten a lot of chills......

I watched all of it and was pleasantly surprised how much of it I could relate to and remember.

Talk about a backlash. If you are doing business in China you need to stay off of Twitter.
Basket Ball is apparently very popular in China

Daryl Morey backtracks after Hong Kong tweet causes Chinese backlash
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-49956385

Daryl Morey's original tweet included an image captioned: "Fight For Freedom. Stand With Hong Kong."

But the coach backpedalled after a fierce criticism from Chinese fans, sponsors and commercial partners.

Chinese broadcasters and streaming platforms said they would no longer broadcast Rockets games.

NBA games draw huge viewership in China, with millions watching games primarily through streaming platforms. The Rockets have been popular since the team signed Chinese star Yao Ming in 2002.

The Rockets and the National Basketball Association in the US quickly distanced themselves from Mr Morey's tweet.

Yeah, and so now if you own any type of business that does business in or with China, China now can regulate your constitutional right to freedom of speech. And most American companies will roll over in favor of the Almighty Dollar.
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.

Thought that was pretty common knowledge - huge market there.

The Rockets and the National Basketball Association in the US quickly distanced themselves from Mr Morey's tweet.

And they sort of reversed course again today after realizing that they looked just like what they really are all about - putting money in front of all other considerations since it's all about the money and we can only care about our finances......and show me the money!

I don't think I have ever seen a Chinese athlete take a knee for equality or freedom. They would probably cut their legs off at the knees so they could remain on their knees the rest of their life......

So long as everybody else was doing that so
they could all be in lockstep.

Pretty good reason for that - It would probably be the last you would ever see that person, and they know the consequences of what that action would result in to them personally. Here, we denigrate and spout hatred of athletes that dare to espouse any opinions; there they just disappear....

In the News today:
Apparently Italy is quite alarmed, as are France and Switzerland, that a huge glacier in the Mont Blanc range is melting fast, threatening a valley below, which has already begun to have residents flee.

The NBA only prohibits “obscene or indecent messages on signs or clothing.” There are no hard and fast rules on political messages.

Sam Wachs told CBS Philadelphia that he and his wife brought several pro-Hong Kong signs and were yelling “Free Hong Kong” during the game while also wearing a “Free Hong Kong” T-shirt. He said they were sitting behind the Guangzhou bench.

Their mistake was in not expressing hate for President Trump,,,,, they would have been given season tickets for that.

NBA shows 'hypocrisy' with China as opposed to 'bathroom bill' outrage, ex-North Carolina governor claims
Pat McCrory was the Republican governor at the time when North Carolina was receiving criticism over a 2016 law allowing people to only use the bathroom that corresponds to the gender listed on their birth certificate rather than the sex they identify with. The law was viewed as discriminatory against the LGBTQ community.

The NBA came down hard on the state and removed the planned 2017 NBA All-Star Game from Charlotte as punishment for the so-called "bathroom bill." The city was then re-awarded the 2019 NBA All-Star Game after the state repealed the bill in March 2017.

While the NBA has put on a balancing act over Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey’s tweet and the consequences stemming from it, McCrory told the Charlotte Observer that it is hypocritical for the NBA to meet some kind of middle ground with China while failing to do so in 2016 with his state.
