Re: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy
Your philosophy seems like a sensible proposition, Rufus, but I decided this year to give myself a headstart so I am not standing out in the yard in ice-cold wind or snow falling trying to arrange colored lights on the fence and shrubbery, etc. At my age, apparently, it's best to pace oneself w/ such joys. I don't want to have too much happiness in one short epriod of time, ya' kno.

Perhaps prudent for yourself given the snow that already was significant to my north.
OTOH, ice-cold wind or snow falling effectively precludes my bothering at all going outside except to collect the mail, and grab some more firewood.
Quite frankly, I’m against people who give vent to their loquacity by extraneous bombastic circumlocution.

Well, I have a faith-based philosophy to snow removal. God put it there, God can take it away! (It helps that I have a Jeep on 33" tires, 4.5 inches of lift

OK, me buckos, you'll enjoy a laugh from this li'l update:
The Beck's (I forgot I had it in the refrigerator drawer) said , "Best before end of: 05/2003."
The Samuel Adams says:"For brewery-fresh taste, purchase before month notched," which was June 2002." I thought thatwas kind of amusing - purchase before." It didn't say anything about consuming.
I don't see any particulates in any of them when gradually turning them upside-down.
The Mrs. and I are going to do a taste-test when either one of us gets the guts to try them, although she just said, "Geeeeeetout. Not me. Just throw it out and get new. And read the labels.'

I gather from that info that beer is not commonly consumed within your castle, Murph!

I must, eventually at some future date, after I get new tubes in the TARDIS, drop by with a bit of a care package of a few bottles of something better than what you have been exposed to in some prior life.

Not exactly keeping with the power tool theme, but the next best thing
DFH 120 IPA. WOWZER!!! Excellent brew but 8$ bucks a pop
not a daily drinker, but on the other hand its up there in the liquid panty remover department, so 8 bucks may not be a bad deal

Had this once one evening despite not being a fan of IPAs; best not to try walking any straight lines after consuming,

A pint of heavy for me please or a really hoppy IPA. Actually the American micro breweries have finally got their act together, took long enough but never mind, there's plenty of beers out there to rival anything made in England though I've yet to encounter a good draft beer to equal Greene King's Abbot Ale which is not only hoppy but has a very definitely trippy buzz to it that has little to do with the percentage of alcohol.
All the good strong beers from England that I really enjoy have that same quality. A different head but a definite buzz. Theakstones Old Peculiar and Adnams Broadside Ale are two more that I used to soak up happily though you want to watch out after two imperial pints of the first two and the last comes in nips - little 8oz bottles and only two are needed.
By heavy I mean a porter like Guiness or Mackeson. A lot of people find the latter too sweet, its a milk stout technically speaking. Mix it with hard cider and you have the well named 'snake bite'.
If I don't know the beers or the brewery or its one that really stinks like Devenish a Cornish brewery that turns out awful piss, I drink Bass or Double Diamond both of which are decent beers albeit very middle of the road.
A beer I really loathe is Newcastle Brown, can't understand its popularity, lousy flavour, acidic, a Budweiser like head quality gets you drunk quickly without any head except for the inevitable godawful headache and hangover, dreadful piss. Not quite as bad as Fosters but close.
