I would rather have the bratwurst; or maybe a carload of scrapple.

Takes a BIG car to move a load of Shi=oops Scrapple around.

My grandparents, with whom I lived, had a friend that would visit several times a year.
M<y grandmother would always make scrapple from scratch when he came. He, being a good guest,
always praised it as better than the last time. I always would go "uptown" to eat when
this great delicacy was being consumed.

I support thread drift.

Ah Scrapple,

I remember riding north to NYC from Florida via the train. I ordered breakfast with Scrapple rather than cheese grits. Does ONCE count?

Oh what fun we receive from our friends and relations.

That depends on how long the heartburn, indigestion, clogged arteries, loss of creativity, and remorse and dejection lasted, I believe.

Having been raised on such menu items, none of the above appears to have afflicted me. Sadly, one's environment does seem to color the opinion of what is acceptable as food...or they have not been very hungry..........yet.

Good point. As a child in Pittsburgh , I often ate Spam. We assumed we knew what composed such a "treat," but I feel, from this perspective in time, that if we had known, we'd not have enjoyed it so much .

Ever eaten pig sphincter/rectum? What's the objective, learned, politically correct perspective on that mouthful, I wonder.

Quite the treat in my household when I was young. Still is a big item oven in Hawaii.

Not knowingly. Once it's all ground up and cooked, if you can't tell, why worry about it anyway?

On a cooking program, "Chopped," I saw them compete to prepare Pork Bung (not Hog Bung) as a dish . I found that interesting.

But don't listen to me, I'm such a food twerp that I will NOT even consider eating: octopus; squid; mussels; oysters ; clams; tripe; sausage, but most all of my friends and family do (I keep my mouth shut, at table, of course.) I don't believe I could force myself to eat any of that cuisine ,even if I were starving, and have no idea where my revulsion emanated from; maybe, the appearance of each animal (except for the sausage, often eaten as a kid but abjured as an adult.)
P.S. I don't have anything against pigs. Yet, I have drawn a stronger line about where I place my mouth when considering chomping on one, if at all.

I've never been a fan of mussels, oysters or clams....no idea why. Parents and kids like them. Squid - yes! Calamari and squid grilled in a sandwich form.... Tripe - not a top 10 item, but just about any sausage is fair game; some lamb sausage I've had was outstanding! One thing that I do detest however is hog maw.....yet again an older family favorite from past generations. My daughter eats just about anything............except mushrooms!

Oh yeah, I forgot about mushrooms. No fungus for me either.

Quite some time ago, my mother told me I was horrified, as a very young boy, at the prospect of eating watermelon (Can you imagine!?) and they used to get a big chuckle out of my revulsion. Needless to say, I got over that and eat watermelon often. BTW, approx. a decade ago, I came to accept that asparagus and broccoli were not from another planet (like Mars) and have come to appreciate their wonders as legit veggies that are good for us. . (Brussell sprouts  are still suspect, however.)

That's the same as asking if someone has ever eaten a hot-dog...
