If you follow the page(s) down enough they do grow domestic (in season) and then they buy them from Washington State, British Columbia, Mexico (obviously) and as far south as Chile/Peru.

I love blueberries. Raw on cereal, or just raw. Baked into Cobbler, blueberry bread (with lemon), blueberry muffins. Love Blueberry wine. Thomasello wineries (NJ) has a blueberry desert wine, an outstanding blueberry moscato and has teamed up with an upstate NY vintner to produce a blueberry port. My main complaint is all of these great wines are hard to get here in Michigan. We have some local blueberry wines but they aren't really up to snuff.

You can usually find wild/mountain blueberries in the frozen fruit aisle. These are smaller than the cultivated kind but equally delicious (and available all year). I often add blueberry wine to poultry dishes that I cook in the Reynolds oven bags instead of water or white wine. Apple and cherry are good for pork. Weirdest thing is beef pairs well with raspberry (not as well as a nice port but definitely doable).

I was able to score some of the last of a brand of blueberry soda -- basically a lot of blueberry juice, carbonated water and cane sugar. Not the crappy seltzer stuff!

Made some home made blueberry ice cream. Just used the "vanilla" custard recipe and cut way back on the vanilla extract and added about 1 cup of blueberries. Tasted great. Can't do that for a while as the freezer is full of of food and the ice cream mixer tubs are just too big.

Blueberry milk shakes and ice cream soda's are also quite refreshing.

Just checked on possible sources of extract/flavoring for cooking/backing. Forgot it's a "super food" and is in high demand for "healthy eating". I just like them, must be ahead of the curve

No, but I had a USFS guy that I went to school with describing how bears "harvest" them in the wild. They open their mouth and grab a hold of the main branch or stem usually near the ground. The side of the jaw near the ground is pretty much closed while they crack open the upward size. They then move their head up sweeping the bush into their mouth where they pretty much chew up everything. Berries, stems, leaves .... Then they move onto the next bush. They don't mess around!

Driscolls is a good brand and there are several other brands that are good too....all from Mexico. Just like raspberries, strawberries and cherry tomatoes in the produce department, you learn which brands are good and which are just okay. The best store bought cherry tomato's I've had in a long time came from Canada (I found that hard to believe) and I bought them out of season a few months ago. They were actually sweet with lots of tomato taste, which can be hard to find unless you grow your own.

While most of us in the states think of Canada as the Great White North (and a lot of it is just that way) there are a number of large pockets of moderate temperatures where cash crops do well. British Columbia has their version of the California Central Valley sandwiched between the costal range and the Columbia Mountains to their east. Their version of the Palouse in Washington State. Southern Ontario on the north shore of Lake Erie grows tobacco as well as other cash crops. It has a climate that is significantly warmer than almost any other part of Canada, "mid Atlantic". My wife and I took the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Calgary. It was weird seeing "truck" farms in what we thought would be craggy mountains. We've traversed that section of Ontario many times to get to Toronto. Weird seeing tobacco being farmed that far north.

Yet nobody saw this coming? From 3pm yesterday you could not get gps directions to Washington DC. i took a screen shot of my gps. If imgur was not overworked i would uploaded. Not that anybody should need directions. it's pretty easy to find. Maybe the time to call the national guard in was 2 or 3 days ago. Now you have a bunch of angry people mulling around down there. What to do. No plan A or plan B from any branch of government. Someday hopefully people will put their skin color aside and join one another to fight our lawmakers for what is right. I really feel that the left and right have failed the people for far to long know. I don't know how to change it. I don't know how to help it. or how to start change. If it takes a few 1000 people climbing a wall. Storming the steps and kicking in doors. Then maybe it's a good start. Our country always seems to be reactive. why change now to proactive
