The talking heads are often true believers which is what makes them all the more dangerous. They really, really believe whatever it is they are "selling". The guys backing them are usually more cynical. That's why they employ talking heads as spokespersons.
What makes these people so dangerous is they tend to weave nuggets of facts into their narrative to make it seem legitimate. The Pledge of Allegiance was originally written 1892 and it was not "specific" to the United States. That part was added in 1923. "Under God" wasn't added until 1954 in response to the "red menace". The "salute" was changed in WW2 because the original version was "too close" to the Nazi salute.

Almost anyone running around telling you "They have the answer(s)" probably don't even know what the real question is and should not be trusted.
