They used to have the McDouble on the dollar menu. I always refereed to it as the McSodium burger. 35 to 40% sodium content. Maybe it has changed now.

I have a vague memory , from decades ago, that there was considerable legend about the composition of those square burgers at White Castle (or was that White Tower ?)

McDonalds Hamburger . 480 mg sodium . 250 calories
McDonalds Cheeseburger . 680 mg sodium . 300 calories
McDouble. 850 mg sodium . 390 calories
QP w Cheese . 1150 mg sodium . 540 calories
Big Mac . 940mg sodium . 540 calories

Looks like "cheese" is a significant contributor to the sodium content.

My favorite BK sandwich was the Whaler but made like a Whopper. BK dropped the Whaler name sometime back but still offer a fish sandwich (at least they did in Florida a few years ago. The nearest BK to me is now about fifteen miles away so I do not get there often (maybe three years now? ).

Is the disgusting pile of goo the fast food joints put on their sandwiches any relation to an actual slice of cheese?

I'm hoping that refers to % daily suggested intake values as opposed to % gross weight. If the latter, I doubt you could eat it as that would be at least 100 grams of salt - better than 4 oz.

While a lot of states ban E cigs. Saying " they are marketed towards kids" They should jump in and ban Mickey d's. McDonalds markets some of the most unhealthiest food towards children. A happy meal. A toy in a colorful box. With a greasy burger. salty fries and a sugar filled drink. That happy meal along with Ronald and the hamburgler set the up for a lifetime of returning for crappy food. Better off eating that happy meal box!

Following that logic, if you banned unhealthy products from the local grocery store, better than half the shelves would be empty.

I never see kids at McD's that have walked or bicycled themselves over...it's the knucklehead parents that take them in there three or four times per week.

This brings back a memory from many many years back. I was in a local restaurant and in the next both, there was an older lady (probably a grandparent), and a young child. Their order arrived, and this woman proceeded to PILE the salt on this kid's food. It was like something in a Python sketch only real. Can't imagine the effect if that was happening on a regular basis.

Perhaps the older lady thought the child was salt-deprived at home

It is the best burger of any of the main chains; although that may not be saying too much.

I agree, even in its current form. Sure beats a McD's Quarter-Pounder. I always order it without cheese...I wonder how much that reduces the sodium.

Other than being yellow/orange and squishy, No!

Probably meets some legal definition which as one might imagine immediately compromises anything related to actual food.
