Roy, you have a massive homeless problem in Calif from San Diego to San Francisco. Thousands of people with no homes, no jobs living in squalor and dying from hepatitis. What are you and Gov Brown doing about it instead of worrying about these illegals moving to Canada. Canada will take care of them.

And Trump didn't create your homeless problem. It's been that way for years even though you would like to blame everything on Trump.

January 16, 2017
SURPRISE! CA Announces MASSIVE Debt Problem

Here are just a few headlines from the last few years in The Los Angeles Times, the newspaper of record for California, regarding Governor Jerry Brown’s (D-CA) fiscal record:

“With prudent budget crafting, Brown shows again that he’s the adult in the Capitol” (January 12, 2017)
“Gov. Jerry Brown’s budget helps schools and the poor – and saves a lot for a rainy day” (January 7, 2016)
“Brown’s budget proposal lauded, but pressure builds for more spending” (January 9, 2015)

These headlines are the tip of the iceberg. They were also fake news. Brown’s supposed fiscal responsibility amounted to a seventy percent increase in the state budget over Arnold Schwarzenegger’s final 2008-2009 budget. It also amounted to increasing the state long-term debt with regard to pension payments, since Democrats in California are entirely in the pocket of public sector unions.

On Monday, Brown announced that his new budget would include a shockingly large $8.1 billion payment to the various public sector unions California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS). The budget includes a $524 million increase in annual payments to CalPERS – a mandatory change, given that the state of California has routinely overestimated investment returns on pension funds for years. According to the Times, “the difference between what all California government agencies have set aside for pensions and what they will eventually owe amounts to $241 billion, according to the state controller.”

California’s not alone.

Unfunded pension liabilities are about to cripple a series of major states across the country. Illinois has an unfunded pension liability of nearly $130 billion; New Jersey’s in serious trouble, too. According to Citi Global Perspectives & Solutions, as of 2015, “In the United States, current unfunded corporate defined benefit commitments total approximately $425 billion. State and local government employee defined benefit pension plans have from $1 trillion to $3 trillion in unfunded commitments.”

So much for the fiscally sound strategy of raising spending and taxes for years on end. It turns out that promising the moon to current government employees in order to win their votes means bankrupting the states in which they reside.

Not really. It's really more of a demonstration that politicians make lousy guardians of funding and are terrible at properly investing the money to be used for these pensions. Oh, and it's a long ways off from just being state Gov't employees. Most industries flaked out on their pension funds long ago.

Some say California's pension liability is approaching a trillion. Democrats ignore that because the public employee unions fund their campaigns.

Just give up now Martin, speeches given to brick walls on both sides just expend otherwise usable oxygen.

I'm not aware of any lines of citizens waiting to get out of this country. I've been in lines in Federal buildings of immigrants waiting to make their cases for staying in this country, as I escorted and tried to be helpful, but no lines had formed to leave.

Just a personal perspective of mine.

Those that are crossing the border into Canada are not doing it at the border crossings. If they did that they get rejected. They are doing it in open areas illegally. That way they get arrested and apply for asylum. They are not applying for asylum from the US, they apply for it from their home country, The stink hole countries they came from.

Right now this is taking a big toll on Canadian resources. Canada heavily relies on the US for their lively hood. The population of Canada is not as big as the state of California. And 90% of the population in along the US border. While Justin Trudeau claims to be a conservationist he is heavily reliant on the oil coming into the US to support their social programs.

My point was about citizens wanting to leave and lining up to do so.

Canada has bears. Bears consume resources. Problem solved.

I know several people from Eastern Europe that have left. Many had visa and overstayed. They had no fear of deportation. They had fear of financially making it. Most felt if they were going to struggle they would rather struggle at home with family. Once they pack up and go home that is it. It gets really hard to get a visa again. I would bet that many Central Americans are leaving for the same reason. I have been through little Haiti in Miami. It's a sheethole. Voodoo black magic drugs and prostitution. There is a group that had a chance to make things better for themselves. They failed and brought the sheethole with them.

I have had several from Eastern Europe working for me; almost all on H-1 visas; almost all stayed transitioning to academic tenure-track positions; one I know left and one I know migrated to Canada due to getting a far better offer that here in the US.

Than again, those were are a bit off the center of the bell curve.

I think that is repeated quite often in our country in many locations. They don't assimilate, they just changed locations.
