Hmm.... So if I send in 4 proof of purchase seals along with a check for $6.95, you get the exclusive Capt. Rex action figure? Well, I guess it's a step up from the old decoder rings. I thought I had a son....what I got was a Star Wars nerd! Who'da known. Must be the company he keeps!

Jon, Jr. must have thought he'd gone to Heaven!

When my oldest son Josh (now 35) was a kid, we made a storm trooper costume out of papier-maché. Not the whole thing, just the chest, arms, and helmet. It wasn't even all that good, but he loved the thing, and still talks about it to this day.

Pete, they don't allow logging or brush clearing anymore, they prefer to burn their state to the ground, rather than risk someone making a profit on the timber.

Pete,

Nothing too serious in San Diego. Northern California has been burning for weeks, though. Feel sorry for some of them after being evacuated ourselves last fall. The longer you stay when the fire approaches, the more you want to take everything you touch. Many don't have the option of such contemplation. I can't pin any one cause, bad forest management, failure to clear brush, lack of fire breaks, weather; it all adds up. It's the natural cycle of things for areas of the west to burn though. Oddly enough, the aboriginal people of the area, the Chumash, viewed brush and forest fires as a good thing. It kept things under control, reduced overgrown chapperal, and brought renewal. Today, we are not that adapted to the land.
