Maybe you don't remember when 95 in Philly went through the dockyards and you wove in between the trains,

Most of the problem is people that don't want to wait. they think they're better than most. so the speed along the shoulder or weave in and out

See that all the time here; everybody is more important than everyone else and they have to be there now.

They're for people that don't have to be anywhere.

Does "Pork Barrel" come to mind. Around here, Norman (OSU) gets most of the Federal & State highway money.

The (Fill in the Blank) Porkway

Kind of makes me think of the PA Turnpike. I think the toll is now over $100 to drive end to end! When it opened circa 1930 it was 1 cent a mile. Can you say: Inflation? And: NO Speed Limit.

I don't want to buy the effing thing, just travel on it!

Kind of looks like the state can do as good of a job screwing the people as the oil companies.

Pa Turnpike is going up 5 or 6 percent in a week. It is the most expensive road in the world if you don’t have Ezpass. I wont use it . Prices are vs 4x higher in a truck. Fuel is also a dollar a gallon more on the pike. I use route 30 or 22.

The state is small potatoes compared to the oil companies,

Topped off the wife's car yesterday - $2.81 a gallon. It's dropping a dime a week now.

Article in our local newspaper today featuring folks putting electric motors in 70's muscle cars. The cars of course are quieter, accelerate faster. Plus the pulled gas engine powertrain can be saved to be passed onto the next owner in pristine condition. :)

Better yet, don't commute to work at all.

Keep in mind, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is totally separate from PennDOT. It is always under construction that never gets done, and the Turnpike is responsible for more PA. politicians in prison for fraud, extorsion, and embezzlement than any other state entity. My last trip to Lancaster for the Ruff & Tumble steam show, the toll from Allegheny Valley to Harrisburg East was $18.
Now it is $50.80 cash, $25.00 EZ PASS. When I go to Virginia over the 4th of July, my toll from Allegheny Valley to Breezewood was about $8.00. Now, $31.20 cash, $15.30 EZ PASS. That's just for a car. Car with single axle or more trailer, trucks, semis go by axles or weight. If you pay cash for your toll, (which relies on a camera pic of your license plate as you roll through the booth and a bill from the Turnpike Commission), you get punished severely by paying about 2.04 times the EZ PASS rate.
Last 3 years going to Breezewood, I take 66 south to Rte. 22 east to 819 south to Latrobe and US 30 east. I may use an extra gallon or two of gas gettin' over the mountains, but trip time from home to Breezewood is only 25 minutes longer. Even at $5.00 a gallon, it's still much cheaper than payin' the toll one way. We can deal with that rather than forfeit our money to Harrisburg thieves.
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.

West end has been under construction forever......

But I do have and use an EZPass - drive across enough states it's practically a necessity these days.
