Thanks to you all for the kind words!
I did manage to get his old Bemis work hat that he wore at the plant.
It will hang in the train room in his memory.

No meteor showers, but rain worthy of Noah and his ark.
We should be just fine, but I feel sorry for those who were burned out and/or face mudslides and erosion due to the loss of vegetation
My drive/worm gear kits for the garage opener shipped today. Now, in my remaining time off, I have to find replacements for Hardie 311A-75 sprinkler valve/anti-siphon units (in the middle of a rainstorm, no less). The solenoids are cracking and at least one diaphragm is leaking. Apparently, Hardie went tits up, but Irritrol makes a compatible model 311A-75. There are cheaper valves, but I don't want to rebuild the manifold, so the distance between inlet to the anti-siphon and the outlet is critical. Probably get away with with one new valve body and replacement solenoids and diaphragms for the remaining five of them. I think one of our local landscaping joints, Hydroscape, has them, but they prefer to deal with the trades and don't suffer clueless homeowners very well.
Why does it all break at once? What's next? Roof leaks, drywalling, the water heater? I'm ready for it.

Nothing too serious here yet, Hev. Santa Barbara and points north are getting walloped.
The Truckee picture tells quite a story. I would not want to be running a rotary through Donner Pass. However, if you want to experience it on MSTS, there are add-ons:

Got a Pentrex video of "The Battle for Donner Pass", back in the mid to late 80s when it was SP. Starts out runnin' flangers, then the flanger and lead locomotive derailed, in the meantime, it's droppin' like 6 to 8" per hour. Shows 'em gittin the loco and flanger back on the rails, fixin' the rail where it spread apart, then before long, they gotta break out the rotaries. Damn, I think I'll watch it again, tonight.
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.
I guess Truckee must be gittin' hit cause I can't git the camera I had this morning. So here a link if you want to check out the other cams.............................................
