Hobo West Meet

Postby webenda » Mon Dec 31, 2007 3:06 am

San already reported that we met in Los Angeles after Christmas. Here is a photo my wife took of the event.

I'll be getting another hat when the rodeo comes to town in February.
There are some more photos on my photobucket site. I hope this link works for everyone...

Wayne, exxxxxxcellent!!!

Love the photo trick to make it look like an old black-and-white movie!

That fire station is the nuts!! 8)

Glad to know the West Coast Hobos are just as homely as the East Coast contingent. :D

Hope you buried your hat with full honors! 8)

Jon, are you going to dip it to weather it?

Tramp, I'm going to weather it, what's the "dipping" process?

Jon, not sure but it seemed easier than trying to brush all those structural members evenly on each side. There used to be a product you dipped wood into that gave an amazingly weathered look of dirty aged lumber.

Wayne, really enjoyed your B&W photo montage. B&W can have a lovely quality and you used it well. I still want a French dipper! I tried to approximate them here with turkey gravy etc., but I'm sure it's not even close.

Nice pics,Wayne.

Is the train museum in Phillipes?

Wife buys purse, you buy train car.Sounds familiar.

My wife asked me "When are you going to stop buying train stuff?".

I said "When you stop buying shoes and clothes".No further comments from her.

Any hobos at home? Every knowledgeable drinker I know stays near the home fires on New Year's Eve. Only amateurs head out into congested unruly digression-amped sloppy depraved naked pil-- Sorry, gotta run.

Roger,

Yes it is in Philippe's. Here is a color photo of part of the display:

War Bonnets in Black, Yellow and Red

The purse purchase netted me two cars (because they had different numbers.)

Does the non-standard coupler height reflect the Chinese "Its Good Enough" quality philosophy or did Atlas specify low couplers.
Is there a standard for three rail coupler height?

Wayne, my Atlas SP Overnite's couplers height match all of my later engines and rolling stock. It's probably just the old high-water style Lionel GP.
