Tramp, I can honestly say I pretty much interpret the world in the same way your character "Luke" does. You're writing is magical-grammatically correct or not. Thanks for sharing. :D

Funny thing about Yukon Jack. Up north in Ontario, they've never heard of it.

Maybe there's hope for those people after all!!!!

Tramp, I ain't gonna touch it. Probably was a time, when I was a senior in H.S., that I could have used 3 blackboards, and diagramed the whole friggin' paragraph. I was pretty good at that stuff.

But you have artistic and descriptive license to write the way you think it, and I thought it came out very well. I knew precisely what you were talkin' about, and could easily picture the scene in my mind.

Write on, Bro!!!

Jon, you know how much I like Luke.

Mitch, I've been consistently surprised at how well you write. Actually, I never finished high school. Is that where you learned to write? Did I ever tell about the drooling master cylinder?

Tramp, I graduated HS at the ripe old age of 17. That's all the formal education I've had, (except for the school of hard knocks). I was too young to get a good job, because I didn't qualify under workman's comp; there was a war on, and I enlisted in the Navy. But I had 8 years of Catholic School, and back then, even the high schools actually taught English, grammar, math, and science, instead of the touchy-feely shit they spew today. And, I actually could have done better in school, if the kids beside me had paid better attention. I was always pretty good at grammar.

I hadn't heard the story of the weeping master cylinder. Do tell!

What I didn't tell you was about the absolute best cup of coffee I have ever had in my life, and as a lifelong coffee drinker and ex-over-the-road trucker, I've had coffee all over the lower 48 and 6 provinces of Canada.

I went to bed at about 1:40am, but was up before 6 'cause we had to be at the landing to catch our ride into the fishin' camp, and I was really feelin' bad. So, I rousted the others up, and we got cleaned up and I suggested breakfast 'cause I didn't want to ride a boat 15 miles with a bad hangover. That early in the morning in Northern Ontario, we actually traveled about 7 or 8 miles south of our turnoff to the landing, and pulled into this little truckstop on rt.11 in the town of Cobalt. I didn't ask what brand of coffee it was, but it was dark and rich like a pure Columbian, but mellow at the same time like a French Roast. Man, I was thinkin' this is a great Hobo coffee. Now I'm on a quest to find a match for it down here at home. My wife suggested it may have been an organic grind. She's gonna get me some at Sam's Club this weekend.

I know I'm just a little off topic  , (as are most subjects in the Jungle), I just thought you Bos' might be interested.

I graduated a C+ student at best. The only thing that saved me was the A's I recieved in art classes.(go figure) I've always been one of those type whose brawn was bigger then his brains and never feared anything. But there actually is a place for people like me. The Marines and Army love my kind and contributions. I do well now as a DOD employee plus still serving in the Guard. Yeah, I could have paid a bit more attention in H.S. But the pencil pouch and pocket slide ruler just was'nt my thing.

Funny thing is, it was the constant abuse and harrassment of the "jocks" in junior high school that drove me to start lifting weights, drinking protein shakes with raw eggs for months on end. During freshman try-outs I secured a first string offensive left guard and defensive right tackle position which I maintained for the next four years. Our team went undefeated for those four years of high school football. Shenendahoah High School Clifton Park, N.Y. During those four years I never socialized with my team mates. I showed up for practice and game day, but never attended the "prized jock functions". I look back on those days and hold my head high.
Humbly, but high.

Good for you, Jon. I didn't do any sports in school, and I didn't socialize at all. Some of the big-time jocks, ever wonder what they're doin' now. I know where one is. He was the president of our senior class (640 strong), a 3 year letter man in 3 sports, and now he's sittin' his *** in the big house 'cause he excelled at chemistry, and got caught manufacturing PCP. I think 2 others boogied to Canada when they were classified 4 A.

Never underestimate the quiet man.

Nothing like a hot cup of joe on a cold morning. Nothing.

Four undefeated years! Holy crap!
I'm betting you still have your varsity letters, medals, and all.

I was a runner in high school. My cross-country team won the NJ State Championship my senior year. I came in individual-ninth. I not only have my medals, I kept the numbers pinned on my shirt.

Tramp, no grammer for me. I'm a speller.
My opinion- don't touch a word.

As for all youse guys, it is my honor and pride to hoist a cup with any of ya.

Tramp wrote a great poem about guys who buy beers in bars. Maybe I can prevail on him to put 'er up again.

Sports :) Well I excelled - yeah right. I swam the 400 and the best I ever did was third. I did play football but only on the kick off and return teams. I did love to hit people but I never practiced that was too much work.

I was too busy at that age to worry about groups and that sort. I just did my thing and that meant helping out with family chores, hunting and fishing.

School well I didn't wear those pocket protectors and never looked like a nerd but I did manage a 4.0 in college and later another 4.0 for an additional degree years later. I was paying for it and I wanted a good return on my money. I was an average student in high school preferring to chase girls when I wasn't hunting or fishing. I even caught a few or maybe they caught me I was never sure of which.

Mitch did you go to St. Joes?

Now for the art side, well hell I can't even draw stick people. :)

Talkin' about the Yukon.................use to use that as mouthwash......................

I graduated a D+ with honors. I could kick all the football players asses that's why they wouldn't let me on the team.

I had a few friends but minded my own business. Partyed a lot and chased the chickes. Got lucky quite a few times believe it or not.....................

I was known for wearin' my leather vest and chain drive wallet. Never got into the homework gig. My books consisted of what I had to take to class and my Overdrive magazine. Mitch should know what that mag was.
Still have them to this day......................

Was always hangin' out at my buddy's truck shop workin' on rigs or bikes. Man.............those were the days.............................

Was runnin' rigs over the road when I got out of high school. Was runnin' illegal.........but what the hell I never got caught......................... :D

Ya couldn't do that shit today. Hell they would lock ya up and throw the key away...........................

Well heck we had fun to. :) :) :) We use to ride the boxcars from Arnold to Braeburn. The we would climb the wall and jump into the Allegheny River at the dam across from the Steel Mill.

It is amazing no one ever lost a leg or arm or even drowned because that portion of the Allegheny was known for strange under currents.
