I know the movie, but MA was headquartered in Bellevue, WA in '79 well before almost anyone had ever said the words person computer. Think it was another year or so until they came out with what was their 1st real OS for IBM who was still trying to overcome their own failure to comprehend that somebody might want their own home computer.
Computers....drugs.....addiction.....

And here we are on a computer on the internet with our addiction. Can we sue Microsoft for our addiction.
The point I was trying to make about the pirates (no matter where they were located) is that Microsoft was known for taking others ideas and using them as their own.

Never considered greed to be instinctual, but rather something that was taught. Certainly never associated it with species survival as it seems a very individual linked trait.

In survival . Greed is called opportunistic.

I don't know about that. Children can be pretty unpleasant when you take something - especially food or something in their mouths - from them, and many children have to be taught to share. I've always thought that was related to something very basic and primitive in us, related, perhaps, to basic survival. Ever try taking something out of a kid's bowl? Ever hear the fuss and screaming a child can produce when refused a desired nugget of this-or-that food item? I think children are the very basic us, unfettered or unrefined with layers of socially acceptable behavior. Greed seems natural to them, connected to survival, I would suggest, even coveting the attention of parents when faced with competition (and often combat) with a sibling.
We are at our best when we share, IMO. Is sharing taught (perhaps by example) ? Sharing helps us bond with others, which is another survival requisite, I would suggest.

We are born with greed, learning to share is what we are taught.....
Murph, I was going to say the same thing about young children.

I would have thought we were born a blank slate to taught.

Babies get their breakfast from the mammary gland and it has an automatic shutoff valve activated by suction.

You're talking younger babies. I'm talking older babies. Younger babies will be snuffed out by the cat sleeping on them. In any event, there is no possibility of human survival.

So are 70 year old men.
Always? So no babies ever survive breakfast? Interesting.....
