That was quite an effort you firefighters put forth. We have the same lack of fire hydrants where I live. In your first picture, are those portable water ponds on both sides of the tanker? Other tankers keep them full while one tanker keeps pumping water from them?

Perhaps advice from the Psychic Apache can calm our minds.

That's right Wayne...........................we call them porta-a-tanks. We had 10 tankers bringin' in the water from a pond 2 miles away. That's what it took to keep the system runnin'. Each tanker carries around 3000 gals of water. The tanker at the porta tanks holds 4000 gals with each tank holdin' 3500 gals of water. At the height of the fire they were using the water as fast as we were dumping it off. The system works out real good for our area. We never ran out of water. We did have problems with some pumps and hose lines freezin' up but we made it thru.

Did you guys see the news?
It had all the makings of a country song: an escaped prisoner, his terminally ill mother, a pick-up truck, a Wal-Mart truck, Nascar, and a Nashville singer's tour bus.
A prisoner from an escort-van escaped during a bathroom break in South Carolina, stole a pick-up truck, made his way to Manchester, Tennessee. There he stole a truck tractor, and later hitched it to a Wal-Mart trailer with $300,000 worth of merchandise, I guess for better 'cover'. He then got within 50 yards of of his mother's house, but abandoned the truck when it got stuck and he was seen by troopers, and fled into some woods. He then stole a tour bus belonging to Crystal Gayle, from it's garage in Nashville, and drove it to the USA International Speedway in Lakeland Florida. He tried to talk his way into the speedway saying he worked with Tony Stewart, but as Stewart wasn't at the track for that event, officials got suspicious and called police. He was caught shortly thereafter.
His mother was quoted: "What he done was wrong, but he knows his mama don't have long".
One thing seems indisputably clear.

Yea Dewey.........................they can dump from the side or rear. The tanker we have can do both. Can dump 3000 gals of water into the porta-tank in about 1 1/2 mins. Here is the set up we use........................
This is a side and rear operation for dumping water. I'm trying to keep my shit together on what hose is going where and pressure I'm runnin'.
This can really drain your brain out when your doin' this for hours. It was hot and humid in these pictures. The frigid temps are worst like the other day on the barn and wood shop fire.....................................
