The gaggle of boys who have perched themselves up in that empty wagon are a wonderful detail . I’ll bet they were into a whole young lifetime of creative shenanigans for years of adventures, before growing into maturity took them away into their separate adult lives.
Despite personal biographies which took each of them into their separate continued stories, their bonds were never broken, I am certain .

A former boss of mine had in-laws that hailed from Lock Haven. Crazy people, both of them.

The Beech Creek Railroad station formerly located at Peale, Pennsylvania:
Today a ghost town, just a few miles down the road from Lock Haven.

Yup, from what I've read, an old mine town long deserted and later demolished. An old Lutheran church, maybe a few other small buildings remain, but for the most part ceded back to nature.

Well, put that down low on the list of "stuff to do" for the foreseeable future.

Throughout the numerous photos of that general circa you have posted, over time, I’ve noticed a consistent propensity of men, young and older, who have been very trim and fit. I don’t even recall seeing a beer-belly guy in any of your photos.
Rural and heavy-industry America may have been the determining factor(?) For example, back in the 60’s when I was employed for one tortuous Summer at National Tube U. S. Steel factory in western Pennsylvania, to earn extra money for college, I never, ever saw anybody who wasn’t very trim.
The same was true when I worked at Kennywood Amusement Park. Every guy involved in operating and servicing such rides as rollercoasters, and the women serving in the ticket booths and refreshment-stands, was trim.

Fat people used to be the unemployed or the wealthy; everyone else worked back when work actually burnt calories........
