Are we in the USA expected to simply adopt them all simply because they show up at and over our borders uninvited? If so, when does it stop/ No limit? Hey taxpayers, here's the bill.

That's the way it works..... :(

Haiti / Dominican Republic
One island, two worlds
The Caribbean island of Hispaniola is home to two countries: Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Both have a population of around 10 million — but that’s about where their similarities end.

The average Haitian is nearly 10 times poorer than the average Dominican, and much more likely to be unemployed. And that poverty manifests in drastic disparities in health. The infant mortality rate in Haiti is more than twice the rate in the DR, and the prevalence of HIV/AIDS is almost double.

There is discrimination against Haitians in the DR And it shows up in existing amendments to the Dominican constitution that strip citizenship from those of Haitian descent.

The social realities of these nations were centuries in the making, rooted in a colonial past that you can quickly detect in the language of its residents: Haitian French and Dominican Spanish.

When the French and Spanish empires descended on the island centuries ago, they began drawing the diverging paths that led to the inequity we see today. There is no understanding Haiti without understanding the slave-based plantation economy that the French installed on the western side of Hispaniola.

Only if you voted for Joey the Dunce or any other democrat. Then it’s a free for all....open borders galore! Gotta get them voters some how. It’s hard to beat rigged elections and Santa Claus.

There are subtleties, but I agree - we cannot simply accept everyone who comes from a country whose citizens opt for a dictatorship.
I feel that way about the Afghanis - we tried to help, but they want a religious dictatorship, and managed to get one in 11 days after 20 years of our efforts. I know nothing about the Haitians, except that if they are so incompetent as citizens as to allow the corrupt governments they get, then by golly they should live that way.

And being only one of two liberals on this thread, I admit that when Trump was elected in 2016, my attitude was that we deserved him. We followed our process and elected him. I might be tempted to go to Canada if we do that again, but I would not blame the Canadians if they say "no, Bob, you elected him, now live with him."

That seems an important question, to me.

When you vote for people, it might behoove you to have some idea of what their agenda might be.
