Nah, they're bad for me. It's an image thing. If I find myself accompanying a gaggle of balloons down the street and happen to be wearing shorts and a horizontally striped T-shirt, I look like a escapee from some Laurel-n-Hardy Kindergarten for SpecialNeeds (not that that's a bad thing) which is an image I'm trying not to nourish. See?

You've tuned into the wrong dream; here's the one you're supposed to be at:

Balloons? How many can she have!? She doesn't need ANY of them - get rid of all of them , and hold one daisy or a violet, if you must hold something, darling.

Getting back to Dry Run PA.

Looking it up on google maps it doesn't appear that the town ever expanded any bigger than what we are seeing in the pictures that Rufus posted. Looks like a very nice little community that is still in the past. Should be a good place to live.

Rufus, what more can you tell us about the past history ??

These little towns are scattered along the road at many of the intersections.

Main highway bypassed it long before my youth so it's just a blib off the main line, Rt 75. PO is out on 75. The main business and reason for the town's continued existence is the quarry - New Enterprise - and then the Fire Dept is located there. Beyond that, it's pretty much frozen in time and if it were not for modern cars and a few other bits, you'd have a hard time deciding when you were when passing through. Back Rd peels off at the North end of town and goes up through the valley on the back side. Links up up to Cross Rd - oddly enough, that crosses over to Rt in Doylesburg. You pass the family farm on that road and where I still have family living. My PO address would have been a Doylesburg address, but they took that PO out so we all have Dry Run addresses......and I did not even have any PO address until this year. Insurance company finally forced that on us as a fire department response issue. Back Rd comes back into 75 up in Concord. Further up the line is Waterloo and where the TVRR terminated.

Keeping the grass mowed in a cemetery must have been tough back in the day.

I presume the caretaker wasn't allowed to use a scythe...that would scare the bejeebers out of visitors...
