Something positive

Postby MurphOnMillerAve » Tue Aug 29, 2017 10:54 am

Say something positive, or tell us about something you have found to be a good idea, to be getting done well, or to be a point of happiness and applause for you. Have you observed any successful and competent politicians/government officials (including local, to you) doing a good job? Any doctors, scientists, teachers, talking-heads, leaders, religions, countries, governments, independent thinkers, TV shows, writers, comedians, movies, actors, etc. you would applaud? Tell us about your observations and conclusions.

I got a angiogram and stent last May. Absolutely amazing they did it all through needles in my wrist. In the old days I guess you went on until you had a heart attack and died.
In my church seniors group of 100 people probably half have a stent.
At the hospital I was at I got the idea they do one after another all day, of coarse this is LA where there are 10 million in the county alone.
The doctors have like a large screen TV where they watch your insides and guides them. They were talking about what they were doing the whole time.
Your awake but in a state like just before you fall asleep and didn't really understand them.

Stunning good news, V8vega! Good for you! And good news to the rest of us who may need to avail ourselves of such advances in medicine someday! Wow!
Thanks.
Somehow, it is fitting that you were the first to post in reply to this thread.

If we add your information to what Wayne posted, on the "Seen in Print" thread, explaining about his twenty year victory and why and how he became a vegetarian , it adds up to some serious messages to contemplate.

Yes, but then, I generally try to listen and observe carefully.

Hats off to Amy Walters. American political analyst, currently serving as national editor of The Cook Political Report. Up until last night she has been the only one on the PBS world news "Politics Monday" segment who doesn't cave in to Judy and start Trump bashing instead of delivering the facts. Last night NPR's own Tamara Keith, took the same stance on this segment and just stated what was known instead of taking a draconian stance and telling us her interpretation/opinion of something. Neither lady likes Trump, but at least they were fair, leaving Miles O'brien, who was sitting in for Judy, looking like a bit of a doofus.   Refreshing to see reporters, analyst and guests just state the facts, without letting their personal bias or preference enter into the discussion.

Nothing funnier that when a "guest analyst" or "guest expert" won't play Judy's game and she's unable to guide or coerce them to the answer she wants to hear. It doesn't happen very often and I'll be they don't get invited back. :D :D :D

Amy Walters was the positive part of the post by the way.

I did the veggie thing for 25 years. Every now and then I would have some fish. Most pre made veggie meals suck. Some not so bad. Tofurkey makes a good product.problem is they fill everything with salt. At 48 years old my cholesterol level is that of a new born's. My four year old daughter eats frozen broccoli like it's ice cream.

Last night I watched one of the news shows on the ongoing disaster in TX and thought it was a glowing example of how people can just be people and put aside everything to help one another. Just watching folks helping each other.........w/o all the rancor and ranting and blame, just helping one another....because it's the right thing to do. Gives one hope for the future.

Excellent point, Rufus!
I saw on the News last night that a gentleman who owns a large furniture store in Texas opened wide his doors to let flood victims come in and take up temporary emergency residence in his stores, sitting and recovering and laying down on the showroom's new furniture and beds, soaking-wet. Wow, that is exceptional.

Mattress Mack! People and the Nat'l Guard are staying in his showroom, living in his display areas, and in the warehouses - sending out his delivery trucks to pick up people.

Here's something else that is positive. Very positive. Tramp's artwork is displayed at a gallery, Ameringer - McEnery - Yohe, in NYC, no less, on W22 St. Here is its front aspect. Having ones art displayed in such a cosmopolitan city is highly significant. I am very glad for him. Bravo, Eric!!!

I made a customer happy. I cleaned and polished one of her bronze sculptures. It's hard to tell from these photos

That looks good - nicely done. And, that photo in the garden with the flowers is great.
