Time-and-a-half, buddy. And I get an extra day off somewhere else.

Plus I get to work with some great ladies, (and I mean that in every possible way)!

That latter aspect is a nice reward for working a holiday!! Could really come in handy later if you can bank you time off.

Technically, I'm off today, but then I'm sitting in my home office writing reviews of manuscripts (taking a break now...) - that old publish and/or perish world just never stops.......

I will not miss this part of my career all that much after retirement,

Freeway shootings have returned to Phoenix. I live 130 miles south of Phoenix. None here yet.

On a bicycle ride from home to Garden of Gethsemane I saw the Desert Willow blooming. Flowers only inch and a half across but colorful. I stuck my cell phone up to one and took its picture. I didn't even notice the dual yellow landing strips for bees until I looked at the photo on a computer. Yellow must be a bee's favorite color... I remember the red barrel cactus flowers were yellow down at the bottom where nectar is.

There is a 220 foot drop in elevation from my house to the Garden of Gethsemane. I coasted almost all the way.
I have heard that all the bicycle trails in Heaven are down hill... in both directions.
It was like Heaven coasting along the Santa Cruz river (flowing from recent rains) looking at all the cactus and wild flowers.

I had to peddle up hill all the way to get back home. Now I know how the bicycle trails are in Hell... up hill in both directions.

Wayne, another beautiful gorgeous picture.

LMAO about the afterlife references. Indeed!

Interesting sculptures. Despite the temptation, it would almost seem sacrilegious to sit there and eat my Happy Meal. Get struck by lightning!

And especially considering their 'provenance'. Shame about the vandalism. There's an act I just cannot comprehend.

Pete, ya just slide your Happy Meal over to the Guy in the middle and get Him to bless it, and instant 13 more Happy Meals!

Thankfully, a little rain. It's on and off, but a light drizzle which makes a good soaking rain. I'm on vacation next week so as long as we don't get a storm to muddy up the river, I might get a little fishin' in. :)

Will this one qualify if I keep it on a leash so it doesn't destroy any dogs.
