Fast forward to now and time has stood still in the Mississippi county I reside in! We can purchase beer but have to go to another county to purchase liquor or wine. Hence we just distill it in our own backyards.

Jon,

My only Mississippi experience was a day trip visit to Corinth (beautiful area as I recall), but I did not get an opportunity (darn) to experience the state liquor codes.

In the mid 1950s in eastern Kentucky I was asked for my draft card to prove that I was old enough to buy booze at a bootlegging establishment.

San,

Where do you come up with these things? They probably work well in the Netherlands, but in San Diego??? I had to look it up. Here are a few specifications.

Length: 350 centimeter = 11.5 feet
Weight empty: 125 kilogram = 275.6 pound
Load capacity: 300 kilogram = 661.4 pound
Is that a gross (loaded) weight of 937 pounds? Better find a beer merchant uphill from your house.
Price (incl VAT) - €3250 = $4,596.95 (25 JAN 2010)

I don't find the price too high for one upping Jon.

Yeah, Roger, on the price of the thing and Jon's inherent sense of economy.

But if you need to move your horizontal axis, front loading washing system through a neighborhood with enterprises like "Pick up Pieces" (looks like an Amsterdam hemp and tobacco shop), you will need the bakfiets. The shopping cart rig would be highly deficient.

Holland is quite flat (hence the need for dykes (a man made structure resisting and constraining the encroachment of the sea, not a life-style choice. They have dykes as well.)), so heavy pedal powered vehicles are not the impediment they might be here in hill country.

I expect the "Pick up Pieces" enterprise to soon be modeled on Jon's pike with a couple of semi-nude O-scale belles purchasing their "hemp".

Other than modeling either one,I suspect Jons only use for one would be to pick up beer.
