Re: East Portal shoot
Love these outdoor shots, Butch the paint and finish on that turbine is truly excellent, the weathering et al WOW!! Erik, your Yampa Valley is superb. I'm assuming these are both PRB cars? That dome-lounge-ob is iconic for DRG&W's postwar fleet which I find more interesting than the CZ which, as...

Re: John E Robinson collection
These are fabulous! The boxcars remind me of some the Clover House offerings back when they were still selling while the gondola reminds of that old Mainline Models On3 kit with the silk-screened sides.

Re: ROCKET!
Great photos Erik, as usual. Sunset? Like these pre-war Rockets and the story on how that program/initiative came about for the CRI&P during the Depression. Although ultimately may have only postponed the Rock's eventual demise, it apparently was good for everyone's morale back then except for t...

Yeah, this is Golden.
Erik did you build that coaling tower? What a fantastic model and not a walk in the park either, much less if you have to move it frequently as you're wisely using finished portable modules for your out-door set-ups. The realism is mind blowing.....

Re: Painting Classic Passenger Cars
My personal preference is to decal rather than mask off stripes, I find the time and steps required for masking considerable and (again opinion) getting the desired results can be far more tedious than decals. Not that decals don't have their own tedium/drawbacks as have already been pointed out her...

Re: Well this was different, Dreyfuss J3a
I really appreciate the nice comments guys, thanks! Regarding the grey shroud color specifically this J3a version (WW2 era.) Having belabored this with Sarge, likely to his annoyance, I concluded per his advice and my own customer’s preferences that the shade of grey here (Tru-Color Pacemaker Grey) ...

Re: One Night at the Railroad Club...
This bears an uncanny resemblance to the operating sessions at my old club. About half the members were retired railroad employees or had worked in the industry and one point or another. The rest of us, upon first joining, received a quick tutorials on lexicon, verbiage and appropriately colorful pr...

Well this was different, Dreyfuss J3a
One of my local compadres talked me into painting a Dreyfuss J3a in its war-time configuration with trimmed down shrouding and the PT “centipede” tender. I normally turn down steam projects. In my experience (and rudimentary skill-set) they always take more time than they’re worth but we negotiated ...

Re: Amazing but sorta useless facts
Glut indeed as members "age out" of the hobby and their rosters/collections/inventories get liquidated. My impression(s) from the two to three shows I attend per year that the younger folks attracted to 2 rail often have a vastly different interest when it comes to buying rolling stock too...

Great decals and sharp application too, clean builds too, going to guess one on the left is AN and the right .....Scale Craft?

Agree with Butch, I'd just assumed it was another Clover House DT. Great looking car, the Fox Trucks are very cool.

Re: A lick of paint...
These two Weaver 50 footers are solely paint & decal jobs using Trucolor paint and K4 Supply decals. I’d been building up my NdeM fleet and decided I wanted newer rolling stock and to diversify my roster to additional roads, specifically the Pacific Railroad and the CHP. https://hosting.photobuc...

Great job! What a kit, that expanded metal deck is a thing of beauty!
Those K4 decals and the Conrail blue Tru-color are perfect too.
Like that a lot.
