john,
funny you saw that because I was looking at that engine the other day. I personally don't like the "rare" version but I did come across that one and lost interest after I saw the price.
The herald on the cab does not look original, but whoever painted it didn't cover up the 2338.

Re: one step over the line
Too much money to get back working.
That is a cool engine though. Remember looking at when I was a kid in the 1987 catalog. I think it was pictured as a set but you had to buy everything separately?

Re: 2020 Catalog Looks Great
Amen Chuck. The NYC F-3 is a LC2.0+ engine...so we could control it with a phone. I just hope it looks like the photo, jet black lighting strip PW style. Would be a nice upgrade to a 2175W set, yet at the same time cosmetically fitting it. I have a 5 & 2 year old so I am burned out of Frozen, bu...

Re: New Lionel Catalog & Lionel's Quality
I reviewed the 2018 catalog yesterday. So obvious management has changed. I too was looking at the Green 1948 Alco set....but they can't even get the coupler correct....on one of their signature engines! Bulbs are messed up as well. Advertised as LEDs, not true. Lastly, the engine windows are froste...

Re: Lionel LionChief General Set Color?
Phase one is complete. Good news is it looks more postwar. Unfortunately, when putting the bell stanchion on it cracked in two places (cheap repro). All of them are cheap repros which were three different colors, so I sprayed each one a bright gold. The change: http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy2...

Re: Weekend Photos - 12/22/17
I agree the 2332 is a great runner...regardless of how many motors it has. I have an original 1949 2332 that I had to donate a lung to buy. Granted its LN, with 100% stripes, with all package material, but I'll never get what I paid for it....... Here is the CC 2332 come down the line.... http://i80...

Rog, until I get the original run parts on there in gold, and the fences brown on the 1877, I think it looks like you know what.

Re: Lionel LionChief General Set Color?
Roy I'll have to check the boiler....it probably is painted. I've also ordered a set of chocolate brown fences for the 1877 to match the original '59 run. Paid so much attention to the engine, I initially didn't realize the yellow was incorrect! I have been running it on my iPhone 7 with the LC app....

Re: Lionel LionChief General Set Color?
Hey Roge, this one is mine which I opened with my dad and daughter today (Bought 2/17, shipped on 10/31 and I had it wrapped up since). The original post was a stock photo I found to get some convo on the disappointing color scheme. Differences in camera, lighting and effects result in the color var...

Re: Lionel LionChief General Set Color?
Hope you guys are having a nice holiday! Took the set out and ran it. Pretty nice. The yellow is actual paint, not molded. I have some gold trim pieces on order. The sheriff and outlaw car is a separate sale item. http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy293/LS1Heli/89482431-100f-4ed0-bb16-5169f2b04e3b....

Re: Lionel LionChief General Set Color?
Well they probably messed up this run then. An 1872 with an 1862T tender, no gold bands and the "General" emblem is blank. Basically, what was shown in the catalog pictures & description, dealer literature, and website don't match what is being produced. The good news is that the...

Re: Weekend Photos - 12/8/17
I agree. That is the only 600 series diesel I own that doesn't have a headlight (from the factory) but has a horn. It looks very plain w/o a headlight, however, as a PW, 600 series, CNJ fan, I love the 621...way more than the 611.
