I had one of those printers back in the day. HP sells (or sold) a special overhead projector film for their ink jet printers. It had one side that had a frosty tooth to hold the ink as it dried. Ordinary acetate won't work and the ink will just run off. :( You might have some luck printing on ink je...

Re: Top Tips for Modellers
Sharing tips is a great idea. I've been punching lenses for 25 years with my inherited cast iron Craftsman drill press and a big index of factory-bent Horrible Freight drills. When turning a bent drill around, it is important to locate the drill precisely over the die to avoid crunching an edge. Jus...

Sarah's Griessenbock's web site is at trainkitchen.com. I met her during the last O Scale National convention in Denver. She is a very skilled modeler who among other accomplishments converted a UP 9000 to P48. She did the machining work in her model shop. Some of her 3D CAD resin models are offered...

I applaud your work at raising the height of trees. On most layouts I frequent they are way too short. Especially in O Scale, we can zoom in with our eyes on a narrow field of view and when the trees are just above the height of a boxcar, they look fake.
Well done.

Re: Car and Locomotive Shop diesel tower gear box
Nice job, Michael. I'm impressed. I stumbled across several old interior photos of a Reading unit. For some reason Henry used two Pittman motors. He personally told me that he used 24 Volt motors "so that the engines would really feel the grades." Curiously, when I measured a couple of his...

Wow, Wayne! That's a great photo of tin whiskers, the bane of tin plated stuff and lead-free ROHS solders. NASA had to carefully clean then test all the computer racks and boards for the space shuttle because, among other things, the card cage was fuzzy. Somewhere I may still have their report on my...

Nope. If the selector switch is off, the LCD display would be blank. It also appears to be backlit. A 9V battery should not read 1.7V. The text on the battery is reversed.

Dave - I share your suspicion. They have already sold off all the F units and are down to just the shell kits. Brass truck repower kits are gone, although the brass castings still show in the detail parts category. Lots of details and drive repair parts are also out of stock. The only items I've not...
