Re: Help wanted w/ Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 115/E
Aha! I found a video by Mike Goodwin about assembling a Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 115: https://youtu.be/wrWhjPp73Bw?si=qNwIi70TEKBPksJk I have a suggestion: turn your audio off while you watch the video (unless you understand Czech; then leave the audio on). Also, sometimes Google fails to load the vide...

Re: Help wanted w/ Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 115/E
George, I have never had Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 115/E. So, I am curious about how many pieces it comes in. I looked at the instruction manual online and found that the only assembly was to fasten the saw bow to the machine. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Wear a hair net. 2. Fasten the saw bow with the two screws in...

Re: Weekend Photos - July 2026
Okay, that’s weird to me. Those short boxcars certainly weigh a lot less than the scale-sized versions. Must be the improved free-rolling scale trucks on the later cars?. The Baby Ruth cars weigh 9 oz each. The caboose weighs 3 oz. The cars have nice trucks with wheels that spin on the axles. A lot...

FAILURE ANALYSIS The first thing I see is that the truck is riveted to the chassis. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/55376148544_79ab97400c_c.jpg Failure to make it easy to R&R the truck. Second: The uncoupling thumbtack is bent. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/55376377250_8d26d497fb_c.jp...

Re: Weekend Photos - July 2026
I saw this happen in a Southern Pacific train one day on my way to work. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/55374745976_4e85db4b71_o.gif The crew backed up, replaced the knuckle, coupled to the fixed car, and went on to Nogales, Mexico. My knuckle did not break; the pin that holds the knuckle close...
