Re: Bondo

Here's the seam, across where the green pointer is. I am pretty happy with it.

Re: Bondo

Rich, yes, the little can I got has 2 separate packs of hardener. I am glad to hear that when I do use this, if I just use one half, then the other half without the hardender mixed in will keep for a bit. Its funny, I don't mind blowing money on trains, but I hate wasting glue, paint, and stuff like...

Re: Bondo

Thank you for all the recommendations. I did get the bondo, and yeah, I see that I pretty much need to mix up half the jar at a time, and even then, it seems like the other half isn't going to last. I'll hold onto that unopened and it'll probably come in handy some day. T he spot filler and the glaz...

Bondo

I just ordered some Tamiya putty to fill and finish seams in a cabin car roof. Is regular bondo a good option as well? I am interested in type of fillers for models. I ordered the tamiya on Amazon and it's coming Tuesday, but I am impatient and was thinking to just go to the auto zone for bondo toda...

Re: Online Source for Brass Rod?

Thanks guys. I searched k&s brass rod and found 1/32 in by 12" rods. I think those will do fine. I am converting an mth n6b to and offset cupola version. The smoke stack was wired to the cupola, but with the moved cupola the stack has guy lines down to the roof. So I need to make one or mor...

Online Source for Brass Rod?

I am looking for a good online source for Brass rod, thin, around 20 gauge or 0.5 mm, for guy wires for a caboose smoke stack and other things like locomotive whistle cords, etc. Not soft wire, but more stuff so it won't be easily deformed after I bend it. Yes, that's right, an online source for sti...

Re: Having taken a look at the new MTH catalog, ...

What I find interesting is that Andy E. said on that Notch 6 audio show that, (paraphrasing here, but hopefully not losing his meaning) in the Premier Line they are not producing any new steam, whats in the catalog is all stuff that is already in inventory. I don't like to armchair quarterback, beca...

Re: Ditch the Facade

Hi Chuck, thank you and good points.

Turns out that the bottom part of the old upper facia is visible at the top of the bottom scene (that's a mouth full!) to give that frame effect. I'll say I did it that way on purpose! :D

Ditch the Facade

I am rusty at posting here, so if the picture's are messed up, I will try to fix it. My layout has a couple levels. The front of the top level is back from the front of the bottom level. I have facias on both levels. The facia on the bottom level serves as purpose: the front of the layout, in a posi...

Re: New members

I lurk here periodically. I've actually been a member here since quite some time ago. I don't really know that there is an answer about getting more people to post. Does it matter? Not a rhetorical question. I don't know the goals or purpose. Is growth needed to maintain the forum? Some of the reaso...
