Re: Royal Enfield
On the Royal Enfield I believe they have been making them in India completely unchanged for decades I understand that India is filled with them. In the last few years they have entered the US market so I assume upgrades have been done. But before that they were virtually the same as a 1950s bike. Al...

Re: Squaw Creek Coal U36C project
Dave
I did find a full on side view. Then zoomed it up to the actual size of the model and just measured it right off the screen. This attempt I think is right on.
Also check out the small cab herald that Jim did, perfect. He did the letters too.

Jim
The max outside diameter of the Squaw cab herald should be 1/2". Also maybe 7/16" on the letter height instead of 6/16"

Jim
Great, you can do that!?
BTW 6/16" is occasionally expressed as 3/8", grin.

Re: Squaw Creek Coal U36C project
Jim Good, I think the bottom one is good. Notice the " Q" on the second one is round where the prototype is compressed. The top one is more like that picture of the Alligator that was posted earlier, way too fat. This morning I used the quarter view of the engine you all see on this thread...

Re: Squaw Creek Coal U36C project
All, The font on this engines herald appears to a be trade marked design called Railroad Gothic. I bought a decal sheet off ebay in ho, red, couldn't find any in O. Is it possible to have this sheet enlarged to O sizes? I mean create a new decal sheet. The max height of the letters on the sheet (Mic...

Re: Squaw Creek Coal U36C project
I have come to a dead end on this because I don't have a way to get the correct lettering. I need to have the lettering first so I can match the stripe to it.

Re: Squaw Creek Coal U36C project
Engine running now, ended up with All Nation drives, open frame motor, dual flywheels. All wheels have electrical pickup except the center ones. Performance is good but not as good as my KTM's, needs a little more voltage on starting than they do. Soon I can start painting it after some more details...

Re: cleaning brass
The cars in question are KTM/Toby and they look like they might be clearcoated. They have no tarnish and have never been painted. I suppose if they are clearcoated none of this matters as the Scalecoat will just see this as paint?
