Yeah, that gets more true every day.

Re: Lobaugh Berk 2023
I hope the buyer has the ability to restore it. Looks like it could need a lot more than just soldering and straightening bent items.

Re: Bay State DL-109 Restoration Project
It's been an amazing project and I can certainly understand the overwhelmingness of it. But, a real credit for you to have the vision to see the end product and and not stop until you got there. I agree on the washer, but not my call.

Re: Ebay
Yep, that's another problem with EB stepping in and doing pricing. The Challenger that was damaged had a much lower shipping estimate than the actual cost.....by double. But, I knew it couldn't ship for the EB price or what the seller said separately.....so I was expecting more.

Re: Ebay
This is a current listing for BT and a good example of their exorbinate shipping charges. It's a USH unpainted tank car in good condition with a decent box. The starting bid is probably what it's worth, but that number is up to the buyer. But, the $70 shipping is absurd. I could ship it anywhere in ...

Re: Ebay
As I stated the quality of the sellers on EB has changed and the only one I trust anymore is Bill. There's a seller in Indiana who is exetremely well know in O scale circles and he has become a major gouger over the last several years. He's also been dogging Bill's listing and listing the same item ...

Re: Ebay
BTW, I very rarely lose $'s on eBay sales. Then again, I very rarely overspend on anything anywhere.
Yeah, in our crazy market, the only way to buy is when the prices are too good to lose $$$ on. But, that is subjective too.

Re: Ebay
want to make a fortune in model railroad?, start with a much larger one. That was a favorite quote of John Smith (Pecos River Brass). I started buying and selling on EB in 1998, but besides the problems you described they destroyed most collectable markets within a few years as items that were hard...

Re: Ebay
Yeah, and Bill starts off really low with price and I think that adds to the auction drive. He gets several or crowds of buyers in on low prices and some just keep justifying the price. Again, this might be a very rare model......I have no idea.

That's nice! I don't know the prototype, but it's striking building and your colors compliment each other. Thin muttins, nice glazing, shingle roof.....what's not to like.

Re: Ebay
Bill sells a lot of "new" models and that makes a difference IMHO and they draw in a certain segment of the market who wants new or mint. I hvae no idea how rare this model is, but new is hard to find these days.

Well, it's up to $1575 with 8 hrs left so it has been noticed and bringing big bucks. Congrats to the seller.

Re: Freight car projects
15-20 years ago I bought a resin kit of a UP flatcar. I've never done one of these and I'll be paying attention to problems and solutions. Not even sure which glue to use.

Yep, exactly. That separates the craftsmen from the bubba's.
