Faaaaaaar out, man, totally. Both of 'em. Good. Variety is good!
And now that I think of it, there are vehicles that have been trying such aerodynamic voluptuousness typified by such cars as the Cord and Bugatti (see today's Chiron!!!!! ) of the 20's & 30's,

1976: Penn Central has an aging electric fleet, let's build a couple of 10,000 horsepower freight locomotives and present them to Penn Central.
Image

Penn Central liked them and wanted to buy the demonstrators, but bankruptcy foiled their plans. Division of the railroad's physical plant
was divided between Amtrak, which inherited much of the electrified region, and Conrail. Increased access charges on the part of Amtrak
led to Conrail ceasing electric operations in 1982, dismantling the electrification on its lines and avoiding Amtrak-owned rails. The two
locomotives were now surplus and were returned to EMD, remaining in the LaGrange plant's yard until scrapping in the mid 1980s.

Funny guys, funny. The wheels worked also.

No, it is a Franco-Crosti boiler with feed water heater located below the boiler. The smoke, instead of heading up and out a smoke stack in the smoke box travels down under the boiler, through a big feed water heater and up through a smoke stack near the rear of the boiler.

In the example locomotive the exhaust is on top of the boiler between the dome and firebox.

In some Frinco-Crosti boilers exhaust is on the side of the boiler.
