TikTok creators have been offering "risky" trading tips in the wake of the GameStop shares frenzy, a UK regulator has warned.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) said people should be wary of users "promising high-return investments".

Many videos contain financial advice without disclaimers about the risks involved.

TikTok said it removed content that "deceives people to gain an unlawful financial advantage".

The BBC found several popular video-makers on TikTok encouraging people to buy shares in GameStop, BlackBerry and AMC.

The share price of these companies saw a boost at the end of January, as people on a Reddit message board encouraged one another to invest.

Other videos encouraged people to invest in the crypto-currency Dogecoin.

35 years ago was the first time i heard to Howard stern. Some time around 1986 he came onto the Philadelphia radio waves. I remember him saying " he had purchased some stock." He mentioned the company buy name. A week later he claimed " The federal trade commission gave him a fin for influencing stock prices. How can people get away with doing it on TIK TOK?

Exactly where I was trying to lead so the SEC getting anywhere with them is probably ~zilch. Which also goes to my thought that this entire episode was a demo of what the Chinese could do to our market sending a message about what might happen if they got serious and were not just playing around with low end stuff.

A 20-year-old has been shot dead allegedly taking part in a "prank" robbery being filmed for YouTube.

Witnesses told police Timothy Wilks and a friend had approached a group of people outside a family trampoline park in Nashville, holding large knives.

Mr Wilks was then shot by a 23-year-old, who told police he had had no idea it had been a "prank" and had been acting in self-defence.

Mr Wilks's friend told officers the "prank" had been for a YouTube video.

No-one has been arrested over the death.

Several families had been inside the Urban Air trampoline and adventure park, which describes itself as "kid friendly" and "family fun", at the time of the shooting, 21:20, local news outlet WKRN reported.

Robbery "prank videos" are relatively common on YouTube, sometimes involving fake firearms, balaclavas or getaway vehicles.

Some have millions of views - though many of those are themselves faked, with all participants being "in" on the video and acting their part.

But YouTube brought in rules banning dangerous or threatening pranks two years ago.

That includes "pranks that lead victims to fear imminent serious physical danger or that create serious emotional distress in minors".

Threats with weapons and fake robberies are specifically listed as offences that would result in the video being taken down.
