I believe this is simply a result of our Common Core mathematics being taught in schools these days.

Beats the earlier method wherein the removal of shoes was required when using numbers over ten........well, for most folks outside of some parts of WV.

I am half Welsh and can read the name Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
