Interesting stuff. My post in the traction section of the OGR forum regarding whether Q-Car was still in business was deleted without explanation-WTH or What The H…Their moderator really has too much time on his hands.

Really appreciate the update on the state of the art of rattle cans. Given the price of spray cans these days, this is very helpful info. I might be so miffed about a spray can failing after 25% of use that I would return it.

Q-Car probably isn't one of their advertisers so that'll get any mention of such a company deleted there - make no mistake, it's all about the money there.

The latest update is I'm back on the forum. Alan was quite cordial and just told me to read the TOS and I could get back on. So I did and I was breaking "needed" forum rules. Actually I've done it several times in the past and was warned, so this was my fault. He was just trying to catch my attention...........and he did.

When posting photos you need to annotate they're yours or that you have the owners permission, quite simple actually. OGR got sued a few years back because someone posted copyrighted photos.....so in this case we can blame the world we live in, not OGR.

That, again, is a very reasonable request. In my case, if that was what he was getting at, I would have readily and enthusiastically agreed. To my memory, he did not say that - he merely went ballistic, insulted me, and terminated our conversation. Unlike Butch, I won't be going back.

In this case, I just kind of hated the idea of a hidden Lobaugh Mountain getting junked. Thanks, Butch, for the help. Glad you are back in Alan's good graces.

I am going to add - that very reasonable policy is not universally applied. Just glance at, say, "Switcher Saturday." About half the posts say "this is my . . ." which can be construed as stating that the poster took the picture. The other half do not even do that - "Here is a . . ." is not the same thing as "this is a photo I took."

Even worse, when the next guy re-posts a photo, he (she) is doing so without permission.

Yes, I know none of us care, and nobody is going to sue - but things always run smoother if we apply principles evenly.

True. The vast majority of photos are to attributed to anyone. They are running on presumption/

Also true. Doing that could be blocked as well; they just don't want to be bothered.

Yes, the old golden rules just don't apply in today's world. And this litigious society of ******* attorneys, helping ******* weasels, who are trying to get something for nothing. I mean really, these are hobby forums for having fun, not professional websites selling, building, advertising or anything else that might be product sensitive.

There used to be many hobby forums for having fun. Few remain as such. OGR is about selling their brand and products, advertising, and they are very product sensitive seeking to eliminate anything that does not generate, or distracts from their income.

Just checked page 3 of the tank car thread (I like tank cars, and am always hoping to see sort of scale-looking cars. Always disappointed). I looked for the required caveat - "my photo" or words hinting at that ownership. Appeared only in one post out of dozens.
