Does anyone know why the Pennsy changed the positions of the headlight and the turbine generator?
I have heard it was because the generators were wearing out and they needed more maintenance than the headlight and were easier to work on in the lower position.???
Not all were changed.

Roger, going through my new book, "Pennsy Power" courtesy of Brasman, it goes through the evolution of the K2, K3, K4, k4sa, and K5. I noticed it didn't go into detail concerning the reason for headlight or generator replacements. One thing I did notice was the moving of the train control box from the engineers running board of the K4 to the front pilot of the K4sa, which in my opinion, fills that void in nicely.(also notice the addition of the mini smoke lifters) Koh's did an excellent job on the three versions they made!! Here's a shot of their K4sa with the pilot mounted train control box:
You can check out all the Koh's K4 versions here:

Jon,
I have the same book and agree.
I don't think the smoke lifters were used on many.
I have been looking for Pennsy Power books 2 and 3.Maybe they will have some more info.
That is a good looking model you have pictured.
I would also like to see photos of any PRR locos in use with the red cab roof and tender top.The only ones I have seen with the red are in museums.I never saw one in actual use.I saw every type of Pennsy steam loco in use after 1940 except the Q's and the S's.The only explanation I ever had for not seeing the red was that it was there but was soot covered because the PRR was notorious for not cleaning their locos.

One of the ritual/enjoyments of my youth every Saturday was to bicycle to the local drugstore with my neighborhood pal with a couple of quarters in our pockets in search of the latest comic book issues. Fast forward to today and with my Son's enjoyment of reading mixed with the boyhood super hero love, off the the book store we go. Not only long gone are the days of comic books at your local drug store, but long gone are the 10 -25 cent prices!! 3.99 a comic book now? OUCH!!!!!!
How does the commercial go?
Gas to the bookstore= 4.00
Two comic books= 8.00
Time spent passing on a tradition with my Son= Priceless!!!!!

We must have had the same parents!!!!!
While I was in boot camp my parents decided to "clean up" as well! Out to the trash went an entire foot locker of comics and baseball cards.
You can tell by the look on my boy's face he isn't even in the same room!! He's out there with Iron Man whippin' the tar out of some evil villians!!!!

At 5 min 29 sec into a white screen I gave up. I'll try it tomorrow with a T-3 connection.
As I was bicycle riding through the desert this morning I came upon a supreme example of Eschscholzia mexicana (Mexican Gold Poppy.) Lucky I had a camera with me.
