I am not subscriber of OGR and can post there. I tried joining the FB forums; there are four or five O scale niche forums. Did not post ever but was kicked off in a day or two. Probably used AI to find some of my vocal criticisms of FB, but hey I was just echoing stuff from a senior FB employee who was whistleblower.

Wait for it.....I was in mid-response to a question/answer that I had posed and poof! --> account suspended. No notice, no warning, nothing.
Just remember: what horses consider play, monkeys consider business, but to Tom it’s all foolery.

That's used to called extortion in some circles. Call with a CC to make arrangements? Are they based in Nigeria?

Erik, you can subscribe by a link that I can send you or even on the forum. The digital subscription is the cheapest at $32.95, so that is what I tried. You were locked out in December and it just hit me in February and not sure when Martin was shut out. But, there is no reason it should cost you or anyone more than the cost of the digital subscription to post. I was able to post within an hour of subscribing.
Is it completely kosher to do it this way in my thinking.......no, but it's not my forum, so I just had to decide if it's worth the $33 to join enjoy and see how it works out for me. I got some really good responses to questions I asked. But, MTJ is my favorite forum and I just hope it can continue.

Maybe a year ago -- not all that long after Dave F. posted here that they were starting to lock out non-subscribers

Agree. Those other terms smell like a fish trawler in Aug.

Agree, but not notifying and locking folks out isn't right either. It really does define that their overarching motivation and business model is purely based in finances and greed, and has very little to do with model trains at all.

You sure it was the owner, and not the publisher? From where I sit, Rich Melvin owns the thing, and he seems like a good guy.
We are currently about ten times busier here - and I am lobbying for more business. Once they kick swrr off, they will be down in the doldrums.
He does have some interesting stuff to share here - I am advised that he could contribute to our Baldwin Shark thread, wherever that went.
Always remember - these things are privately owned, and they can be as capricious as they wish. I do look daily at OGR, and usually find nothing of interest. But one of the guys has a sand cast PRR 0-8-0, and I am anxiously awaiting photos! I have on occasion opened the Switcher Saturday and Tank Car Thursday threads, but they are both highly toy train oriented, and in my opinion even more repetitive than my threads.
Let me see if I can find a Switcher Saturday post of mine, way back when I was a member. It got zero reaction. Yeah - here:

Speaking of photos, the Atlanta show had an Erie Berk and a Kemtron Mogul on display. I shall bug my buddy to post those photos here.

Yes, but crossing over to malicious prompts a good exit.

There was very little of interest there when I was exited so no real loss. There was a gain however recovering the time that I would have wasted there. Time being the most precious commodity, I put my exit in the positive column.

Ok, what is the switcher then? I have a soft spot for the old Thomas bobbers. They are fun to play with and to dress up.

Switcher is 17/64, from a photo. Scratchbuilt here. unpowered.
I don't waste much time there anymore - a quick glance daily.

Ok, but is it one of your builds or what is it's origins?
