Wire-wool can be brutal ......

What grade(s) are you using? 000 or 0000 or something coarser?

00 and finer. The 00 is good for removing the lions share of the weathering people overdo, and finer stuff is excellent for blending and feathering the remains. 00 is also good for removing lettering from both plastic and more recent factory painted brass.

I like them both. The PSC is gorgeous. The Thomas is simpler but what is there compares in general form and location; not bad for sixty years ago or better!

As an aside, a NOS kit in an All Nation box with Thomas instructions floated into my shop just last week. This is interesting, as I have read that the last stand for Thomas, which had been in Shawnee, Oklahoma, was Plano, Texas. Plano was a sleepy farm town north of Dallas County at the time, but it's now a mega-suburb of 300,000 people. The end came when the Thomas operation reportedly burned down, with all tooling and plans lost. It leaves unanswered how All Nation had Thomas kits to sell under their own name.

If it was a tank car kit it might be that those were already moving to AN? The 6-dome car AFAIK was never offered by AN.

Something I whipped together....had the tanks and could not sell them.....so I made the flat car from 2 resin flats to get the needed length and added the rails that the tanks latch into, added the AB brake system, etc.

Thanks! No idea on the tanks. There were imports of the completed car once upon a time, but were these extras, or did they get separated from their flat? No idea....

But as stated no one wanted to buy them from me so I found some decals and made a flat for them.

I do like it, but have little actual need of it - was just another project to see what might be done to put everything together and complete. Probably take it to Strasburg 3 times and then sell on eBay for more....

Not wanting to waste the leftover parts from cutting up flat cars for the making the one under the two tanks, I took the other two parts and married them together to make a somewhat short flat car and added a load....

Nice car and the load is terrific. All those pipe elbows are outstanding. So much of the time a really well detailed and interesting load raises the level of the entire model........just like a finished structure that has lots of real life going on around it.

Thanks! Just had to find something to do with the leftover parts.....tight getting that brake detail installed but worth the time, I think.
