Might be worth it if you paid in full. I have witnessed things like this in the antique motorcycle world. A guy promise to make a run of hard to get parts. He takes a deposit and never fulfills his end of the deal. After a few years he shows up as a vendor somewhere. When somebody he owes money to spots him. They walk right up to the table and take stuff from it. look right into the guy's eyes and say " call the cops". May not be legal but they don't give a rats azz. Their motto " Turnabout is fair play"

Erik's promised locomotives will be completely stuffed with speakers, electronics, motorized fans, working lights (20+ of them, all at different points around the locomotive) and interior detail (prime movers, traction motors, etc.) Obviously, his locomotives are *not* a product whose purchaser will be able to open up and service themselves.

If you accept that, then you'll realize that it makes a lot of sense for Erik's locomotives to have sealed mechanisms that are not intended to be serviced by the purchaser.

The question of the moment is will they arrive within our lifetime. Hard to void the warranty of something you don't possess.

Concentrate on the wonderful limited lifetime guarantee (his or yours?)

When folks call, convince them all is well and proceeding according to plan (what plan?) so the "faithful" and those who contributed greenbacks will keep their blinders on. And make positive comments on various forums.

Any updates on these fine models? I sure would love to see those door opening SD40s done. Beautiful stuff. Now that Covid is a distant memory when do you think we will see a run completed? Any ideas anyone? Wow they are so amazing, makes me want to start doing 80s and newer now.

There is some scuttlebutt on OGR that SD45's and some freight cars are due soon. Also supposed to be some info on the website, but I haven't looked there. Too recent vintage of equipment for me!

Ok, understood. There is so much of this stuff on OGR, everything from fan mail to legal threats from the friends of the importer, banter, and more banter, about them that you can't find good data on anything maybe intentionally done or not? Its all major confusion; samples look amazing and I am hopeful for the production to take place. They sure look beautiful. Neat models!

I see Scaletrains just announced in 1/87 HO SD45Xs. Wow are they beautiful!

Scaletrains has really raised the bar for plastic HO models. As a UP guy, I had to get one of their 8500 hp turbines just to see if it was as good as advertised.............it's better. Miles ahead of the Athearn 4500 HP turbines from the past and as nice as any OMI turbine I own(ed). All grills are see-thru and all details are very delicate and not oversize. Heck of a loco!

As for MMW, I'm just glad he didn't offer anything I was lusting for (which is almost nothing today), but I sure feel sorry for the guys who put money down. I think this is going to have a bad ending.

Shane is a good friend and all he wants is to make the best possible models money can buy. We just got Atlas to produce his racks from 2 years back he did in n and ho. Next time he's in your area on a Road Trip you must go and meet and greet. Good people. Awesome products. Revolutionary, really!

I haven't been to OGR for some time, but just visited. Found the MMW thread and this post from the 23rd of this month.....first post since last March. He was commenting to Alan Arnold, who back in March asked the group to quit posting about MMW.

All I can say is MMW has some zealous followers to put up with this BS this long.

The fact the SD45 has just gone into production after years of holding customers deposits, just blows me away. This was his 1st loco announced many, many years ago and I'm sure I read that it was in production way back when.

[/quote]Alan, I appreciate what you're saying and hope this is allowed, but for what it's worth, a few days ago I heard a rumor from a colleague I highly regard that the MMW coal gons will begin shipping next month, and that the SD45's went into production last week. Of course, rumors or just that, so I contacted MMW, and they confirmed. I don't believe the SD45-2's are moving to production yet, and not sure about the tunnel motors either, but it appears things are beginning to progress. I'm expecting two ATSF SD45's and an ICG SD45, (#7000), so I'll be one happy camper they day they arrive, especially for the ICG. The SD45 is my all-time favorite loco, it was the big block corvette of 2nd gen diesels, and ICG's #7000 was the only SD45 ICG ever purchased. Growing up in Southern Illinois in the 1970's I remember seeing it occasionally, sometimes lashed up with some other really eclectic ICG locomotives, hammering east up the bluffs out of East St. Louis or through the tunnels on the Edgewood cutoff through the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois, some great memories, I just wish I would have taken some pictures back then.
