Weekend Photos - April 2023
Kicking off April with one more photo from Sarge's 2-rail layout, this a lovely reworked WM cab, #1871:
1962-1968 was my peak railfanning period; I was enrolled in a parochial school that sat less than 100 yards from the WM's "Old Mainline" here in town. Nearly all of the trains were westbound, as the eastbounds typically ran over the "Dutch Line" from Highfield to Glyndon along the southern edge of Pennsylvania. Consists were either mixed freights out of Baltimore or really long strings of empty hoppers heading back to the West Virginia or western Pennsylvania coal fields. Nearly always EMDs up front with RS-3's shoving from the back. Parr's Ridge was the highest elevation to be overcome between Baltimore and Catoctin, so we usually got a pretty good show as they crested the ridge right next to the school building.
Anyway, seeing stuff in the "Circus" scheme was a rarity as it didn't get introduced until the end of the 1960s. More typically, F7s and GP9s in chalky black paint, "Speed-Lettered"; I don't recall ever seeing anything with a "Fireball" on it. The other thing frequently heard is that the WM kept their gear in pristine condition, a notion I would refute. Most of the equipment we saw was drop-dead filthy, and Sarge's caboose is a good look.
A nice model to my eye, one that brings back a few memories.

Found a few more wood cars with tinplate trucks under them.
Looks like I don't know how to link videos just yet lol, but seems like if you right click and select open in new tab, they will work lol

Nice looking consist. I just got my first 226E and I need to get it cleaned up and running. I like the 654 or 2654 two-thirds of the way back with the blackened domes and trim...those can be tough to find.

Nice run byes . I like how the videos are playing as you’re looking at the page. How did you go about accomplishing that? I find I usually have to put it on YouTube and post a link here.

Thanks guys. I posted em on OGR and then copied video address and then pasted that between the Image brackets like for a picture. At first it didn't seem to be working but I guess it is now.... We will see if it holds up or not. I think I have also linked to pictures I posted on FB as well. I have some longer videos on youtube and those I usually have to post their links like you said Greg. I've been trying to stay away from the third party hosting sites so far.

Well, that pretty much solidifies the deal for me since I can no longer get on NK, but that’s OK. The way you have posted those videos is the way it should be, you simply click on the thread and the videos are playing. You don’t even have to push play.

Strange. All I see is "image".
Re: Weekend Photos - April 2023
On my Windows PC, all I see is "image". Right click on the image icon, then select "Open Image in a New Tab", then go to the new tab and Bob's Your Uncle...
On my iPad, the videos pop up automatically.

I'm in the same boat. No videos. Just the word "image" Sometimes this can be from the original poster using an Apple device. Not sure if that is the case here.

Putting a link for a .mov file in between the img codes does not seem to work on Win computers - I get image as well. I tried this some time back for some hosted video files and they all failed so I just gave up.

Thanks, Healey. The right click did the trick. Do you know my Uncle Bob? Funny, he's never mentioned you.

Haha...years ago my British coworkers always used that phrase; took me a long time to figure what the heck they were saying.
