Unknown. Link to it?

There is also another Model Train Forum that has an O gauge section at which I have not looked too closely but maybe I should give it a better look.

Any 2 rail there?

Is the old Yahoo O scale list still active?

Yahoo dried up and blew away........

I'd like to move the N&W list that I made on OGR if I don't get back there. I'm not sure whether I could manage it here or somewhere else like Facebook. I'm glad I saved it based on Dave's F's advice. I hope I can find it.

Maybe just set up your own blog site - consult Dave F on doing that.

I'm sure they have better things to do than drop everything to go in and fix my individual forum status, so I'm hesitant to even ask.

Several items to address:

1. Facebook Group(s):
I forget who exactly administers that group, but its located here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2railoscale/
I've only seen a few attempts at moderation, otherwise, most folks play nice and disagreements are very cordial.

I should also state up front - You of course need a FB account to see anything. Scared of FB? Use brave browser and/or incognito mode, create a dummy email, sign up with facebook with dummy email. I can't remember if they require a phone # now, but I think there are still ways to get around even that, for those who absolutely must keep Zuck from your personal tidbits.

At time of this post, you will see a cool cab interior with some lighted dials. That is some of Sarah's most recent (Alco PA?) cab interior work, with colored fiber-optic cab display. And all the CAD she has is free on her site, https://trainkitchen.com/downloads/

And I found out about her plight on the FB group. I don't remember the details, but sounded nasty, but at the end of the day, the forum owners may do what they wish. IMHO, a majority of 2R modelers have migrated there from various places across the net.

2. Yahoo Groups (most groups migrated to groups.io):

Also as far as yahoo groups are concerned, yes, many of the groups that I was in (for OScale and otherwise, migrated to groups.io) The three main groups for O-Scale that still exist there are OScale2RailProto48Modelers, proto48, and OSCALEYARDSALE. There is some light discussion and question-asking there, but very few images. That format lends itself even less to multimedia than this forum. (And IIRC I think I got a notice recently that one of the image companies that we all moved to was cracking down on sharing images to other sites unless you pay. I need to revisit that one when I have time.) FB really makes it easy for individuals to share video and photos, which no surprise, there are a ton of on there. Have fun scrolling through the backlog of "posts" there.

3. Other forums
I've lurked on a few others, mostly for entertainment purposes (like those that do on this forum), but nothing really looks welcoming towards scale-minded or atleast 2R modelers. This, FB, and groups.io are the main spots, IMHO. There were a few other one-off individually-ran forums/blogs, but those seem to have died way down in activity since around the start of the pandemic.

4. Content
You should always keep personal copies of important things you post. I should even backup my own (hardly updated) blog, for the day that Google decides they're done hosting that, lol. You never know when the server will physically meltdown, or you'll be kicked out and lose access/control of content you created. Besides keeping control of my own content, again, I like to have a one-stop-shop for my own reference of previous projects I've documented, so I can quickly reference them. I do not want to jump to one of 4 or 5 different forums and remember where I posted what, or copy/paste the same content across them all to make sure everyone sees it. A lot of maintenance. Nothx.

Any photos that I post are just copies of what is on my hd and backups so if Shutterfly (or whomever) decides to sh** the bed, I will not lose anything. As far as any text that I post, who cares what happens to it.

If I created anything relatively useful, that contained a lot of datapoints or measurements that would take a lot of time to recreate, it would make sense,IMHO, to have a backup of that incase the originally published copy was destroyed for whatever reason. Example - I haven't, but if I made some giant primer on kadee couplers, with step by steps for various RTR freight cars, etc. it would probably make sense to have that backed up, so it could be redistributed again rather easily, especially if I took a few hours to create said primer.

I would happily go to Facebook, and have an account, but jeez, when I first got on I was swamped with inanities. I had to block everybody - not at all interested in photos of breakfast croissants, kids, pets, or conspiracy theories.

Is there a way I can look without geting re-involved, much like I do now with OGR?

Yea, you sign-in to your fb account, click the groups icon up top, select the group from the left (after you join the group and are approved), and ignore everything else about fb. Bookmarking the group prob helps skip some of the above steps. Ad-blocker extensions for your browser will help as well for anything on the side panels, etc. Some ads are embedded as posts every so often, but they're not that bad and its easy to scroll on past them.

IMHO, If you have the will to ignore everything else on fb, you can easily focus only on the group(s) you join and more or less see nothing else.
