Trouble Signing in to OGR?
Is anyone having trouble signing in to the OGR Forum?
I get a message that says my account is disabled. I haven't had a run-in with anyone there in quite a long time so I don't think it is anything related to something like that. I think I've been on good terms with the management.
If it is just me then I'll try to send them an e-mail.

Usually you get a nasty-gram in your in-box if you've been a bad boy by one of their arbitrary and/or obscure metrics
Check your on-line spam folder. Maybe you stepped on the wrong toe...or it's just them.

Yes - check your junk mail. They can take offense at the most innocuous things.

No, now that I think about it, I updated my profile the other night and that probably triggered something.

I just posted there, so far without an issue, and I know for a fact the forum sheriff there will kick my post off if they don't like it.

Re: Trouble Signing in to OGR?
I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, except I never got an email about why. My guess is that I probably replied to a question with an old blog post of mine (that has a sidebar of all publications I've been in, which counts as advertising), or perhaps the [neutral] comments that I made on FB around when Sarah was unfortunately kicked off OGR.
Like bob, there is a post or two that I could contribute to, but can't. Saves me time I suppose, as I barely have time to read forum posts. Ironically, I still get emails from OGR advertisers even after the fact. If that keeps happening, I will prob reach out to ensure my PII is wiped from their systems. You can't sell me as a customer if I'm not welcome there.
It's a shame they got rid of Sarah. She's really pushing the 3R-printed modeling envelope and shows it off on the 2R Facebook group. She also gives away her CAD design for free on her own website, which IIRC, is what the powers at be over there didn't seem to like. IMHO, not to put MTJ, the groups.io or OGR down, but if you're a 2R modeler or interested in O scale modeling, that FB group is the #1 place to be. So much show and tell, and model news. A sea of images and video, if you will.
Still looks to be plenty of 2R activity on OGR, but the primary downside to slowly banishing 2R modelers from OGR is that newbies and 3R guys won't be as easily exposed to 2R O. From Bob's doorstop expertise to Sarah's next-gen modeling to Chris' expert prototype realism.

That's seriously unfortunate. She was doing lots of great stuff.

Not much actual modeling, but more of a look at my "shiny thing" level of content. The amount of actual model building and model RR'ing there has never been high, but it's never been lower than it is now. It's something that's clearly not welcome.....not unlike 2R O scale itself.

Re: Trouble Signing in to OGR?
I had the same problem 2+ years ago when I changed my home address. Allan wrote back that he would take care of it, but the problem persisted so I wrote again a week later. Got a reply with attitude that he was busy on other problems and I just needed to be patient. A few days later I was signed back up.
Sarah being kicked off is wrong. Didn't she recently become a contributor for some magazine? Maybe that magazine isn't a sponsor on OGR so she's no longer welcome. That would really be CS on their part.

That seems consistent,

Others have not been kicked off due to being a contributor for some magazine regardless of sponsorship. Perhaps they tried to hit her up to be an advertiser since she was actually making stuff. They have done that to others. And when they decline they have kicked some of those others off.

I am slowly coming to the realization that 2 rail scale will survive the same with or without my wisdom. But Sarah was breaking new ground. Somebody tell her about MTJ, and Martin's discovery on how to "get in."

Re: Trouble Signing in to OGR?
In my case I'm 99.9% sure it is nothing personal, but has to do with me changing my profile. They've always been very cordial to me. I've really always liked the OGR forum. It is troubling to read the circumstances of some really great modelers going away.
I'm sure they have better things to do than drop everything to go in and fix my individual forum status, so I'm hesitant to even ask.
I think I'll take a look at the 0 scale Facebook site. Who administers that site?
There is also another Model Train Forum that has an O gauge section at which I have not looked too closely but maybe I should give it a better look.
Is the old Yahoo O scale list still active?
I'd like to move the N&W list that I made on OGR if I don't get back there. I'm not sure whether I could manage it here or somewhere else like Facebook. I'm glad I saved it based on Dave's F's advice. I hope I can find it.

If I ran a forum you would be one of the priorities, if a glitch happened. You and Sethian are setting very high standards, and I am pretty sure most of us are in awe.

It’s similar topics (mostly 3R & that’s ok) to OGR except it’s not heavily moderated and open discussion is acceptable. The administration is great and I enjoy my time there.
One thread in particular is about modeling, projects, and discussion of techniques, which is where I hang out. Few guys are master electronic guru’s & an expert freight car painter. Others occasionally drop in to share a repair or what not, enjoy seeing all their work. In all, four or five of us post regularly, I usually post stuff I’m building as time permits.
I was unaware about Sarah’s situation, a loss to OGR participants.

The sign-up process for MTJ does indeed work now. I was finally able to log in yesterday, after trying (off and on) for a couple years.
