Keep working on tying those shoes - your going about w/o them on is getting folks thinking there's a bigfoot wandering about in PA.

From the southern border up to the northern border is now a public park for the world to enjoy, every thing FREE in America.

Didn't you just retire recently as a senior citizen. Did you save millions of dollars while you were working so you don't have to accept a government gratuity every month.

5+ years ago and well before most....because I could and I could see where things were going and they were not to my liking. My colleagues were horrified that I was retiring so early and young. Unlike too many of them, I had a life and also did not want to be carried out of my office on a plank.

Actually, we planned our retirements 30+ years ago and saved ~50% of our dual incomes and invested everything possible that was available to us. More people should exercise responsibility over their retirement planning and savings as opposed to waiting until 6 months before retirement to start thinking about their finances, or waiting to bailed out, or just whine about everything.
I do not get Social Security either. I could, but it would complicate things.

Rufus, I'm of the same mindset. It's really too bad personal finance is not addressed in our educational system. Scary in fact.

It's an amazing void in our educational system.

So you decided to spend 2/3rds of it on MTJ

'd like to see a family today that can save 50 percent of their income.

Don’t be fooled Robert. People notoriously embellish all sorts of things on the internet. It’s helps them fell better about their pathetic lives.

Maybe you need to read that again - we did. Pay no attention to the yammering petaQ. It can be done.
Less than 20% of your income should be housing and the next 30% pays everything else. The rest you save for retirement pending emergencies.
It requires discipline and then some luck not having anything big go wrong. We lived off my wife's income for ~20 years until mine passed hers. We max'd out every savings and retirement fund possible for 30 years. We had 529 plans for college for the kids. This has gotten us a high level of financial freedom and time to do what we want. I spend my time between 3 part-time jobs while running a consulting business and sitting on the board of a non-profit. The percent of time I spend here is negligible at best and far less than spend just reading books, and infinitely less than I spend watching TV or playing with a smart phone that I do not have not need....yet.
That others can't plan and execute is part of the reason this country is in dire straits and populated by failures and angry children. You are responsible for your financial security and no one will take of that for you. If you think that Social Security will save you, you might as well surrender now.
