You need to get yourself a tutorial on Ebay bidding. First, there is NO way of someone knowing what your high bid is (unless they have hacked Ebay, which I seriously doubt, but anything is possible).

For example if you are the under bidder and your max bid is $500 for an item and I put in a snipe for $2000, my winning bid will be one bid increment above your$500 bid. The bid increments are preset by Ebay and increase as the bidding amounts rise. There's a table of them somewhere on the Ebay site. Let's say for the sake of this example the bid increment at the $500 level is $10. My winning bid will be $510, but may max bid was 2K, so you didn't have a snowball's chance in Hades of winning the auction. You think you lost the auction by $10, but you actually lost by $1500.

You are correct about Ebay.....they will get their percentage.

All correct.

Yes I have lost many a auction by a dollar or two but I say to myself "I don't know what his high bid was, it may be way up there."

Loco only, still bidding at $46. Two days left. Looks nice.

Did you get that one out of Florida for $80 plus shipping?

Here's a $125 and a "make offer" option:

No, I put a $75 bid on it and left it. As usual two guys sniped it with nanoseconds remaining. Whatever, there'll be others. I kinda went off it for now, instead deciding to chase down a couple of MTH tinplate sets which I can't find decent originals for. Ran down an LC Flying Yankee in red with traditional motor and e-unit. Most of the red originals I find are either priced like gold or look like dad backed the family wagon over them. A Blue Streak would be nice, too, but I doubt I'll find one of those (in traditional).

Here's an original 616 set in not too bad of shape. A few scuffs, but it's not running. I'll be interested to see where this one ends up.

Original red non-running Flying Yankee set went for $320.30 (including shipping), only slightly less than I paid for the LC repro set.

Another one, engine only (increase profits!) from Trainz.
Serviced, no less.

Boiler looks too nice to be 80 years old. From what I can see, looks like a nice repaint.

Yeah, that looks like a really nice refurb. Tempting, tough to pass on, but I’m going to wait until Q1 2021; blew the Q4 train budget on the MTH Flying Yankee.

Got an email from Trainz today offering free shipping on orders over $50 on 10/31/2020. The promo code is BOOSHIPPING.
