I'm curious (and have long been so,) if you will permit, Wayne, what was your procedure for discerning that information?

1. Remember the movie.
2. Look up details forgotten on IMDB.

I had a feeling and a theory that remembering was the first step for you. You've been blessed, indeed. Live long and continue to prosper .

What movie does this make you recall :

(Slap to the face....) The slapee falls slightly against the staircase, and then she says, "Get out. Get out before I kill you."

(I think I recalled that correctly and verbatim  )

That's right. You remembered that, too? It's one of my favorite scenes ever, though I'm not exactly sure why .

I never saw Mildred Pierce (no trains) played by Joan Crawford.

I just watched a clip.

Ida : Personally, Veda's convinced me that alligators have the right idea. They eat their young.

Wow, it has been years since I have heard Eve Arden's voice and I still remember it.

It really was a classic, the ultimate Joan Crawford flick.

And Veda was almost a prototype for the overly self-absorbed 20-something female who feels "entitled" in the extreme.

And yes, I too can easily hear Eve Arden's voice.

And if I remember this all correctly , from decades ago, Joan Crawford's later years, when she was married to the Pepsi mogul, pulled some amazingly "self-entitled" stunts regarding their townhouse in NYC , which quickly became legendary.

Yet, she died alone in her NYC apt. Campbell Funeral Home handled all the arrangements which included crowd control.

It is definitely one of Crawford's best movies. Most movies she plays the manipulating bitch like in "The Women", which by the way is on a short list of all women movies and very unique for that time period. It should be required viewing for all single guys, so they can see how designing women can be. My wife has always told be women are horribly designing and very back stabbing to each other and she much preferred to work around men than women. That movie bares it and has a great cast.

Agreed, BH.

Long recognized as a reigning "beauty" by Hollywood, I wonder how Joan Crawford felt about Ann Blithe being the ogled "beauty" of that movie's storyline.

I only recognize John Barrymore , in the middle photo, along with the leg thatmight have belonged to Marlene Dietrich, although my impression and memory of her is that she was a woman better looking than that.

In the bottom photo, the woman with her mouth hanging open is familiar, though somehow I have memory of her with pursed, overly-bedaubed lips, and I recall her as often in movies of that circa, but I just can't connect a name to her, though I am sure that as soon as I hear a hint of it, I'll recognize her better. She may have played an ever-distraught damsel caught on an ice-flow in a silent movie (?)

Otherwise , I have nothing else to add to this part of the conversation .

You really have a problem with open-mouthed females, don't you?

The real question is when will I ever learn about opening my mouth around you. You are so fond of putting a negative spin on something I have expressed (not that you are singular in that regard around here.) I'm so tired of it. I need to decide what to do about it.

Frank, shall I have a talk with him? I'm sure he will see reason quite quickly.
That a life will be spent gaining inches,
When this distance is read in miles.
