The Chrysler TorqueFlite transmission went into many AMC cars. The AMC Eagle and SX4s all had Ford built 6 cylinder engines with TorqueFlites behind them. International Harvester trucks and Scouts, the Jeep J10 & the J20, had their own engines, from 304 c.i., to 392 c.i. engines but some years it would have the 727 TorqueFlite behind them, and other years you may have found the big Ford C6 trans in them. Some early Jeep Commanche's had the 2.8 Chevy V6 engines in them with the 904 Chrysler TorqueFlite tranny. I think AMC just called up the other manufacturers and asked "what've ya got left on the floor over there? Scrape it up and send it over"!

I agree.

In our search for meaning and understanding? How can that be done to excess, Hondo and Rufus?
This, I gotta hear.

Some people stop at one tree in the forest and bang their head against it endlessly instead of just walking around it to see the forest. Some see a small hole and dig a pit, and then jump in it and cry for help instead of walking around it.

If you focus your search for meaning and understanding on the head of a pin, you'll not only not see anything else, but you'll probably end up with eye strain. Too many try to see everything, see only one thing and then only what they wanted to see.

We try too hard looking for meaning and understanding when it's all around us all the time.

So Murph, did something happen to you, in an Edsel? Did someone push your buttons?

As I recall murph said that while he and his mother were at the dealer someone drove one off the lot and parts fell off of it so they left

Driverless cars. What's the point of such a contraption?
Who needs it?
For example, let's say, I want to drive into the next several driveways along my block to deliver something or visit my neighbors. How is that series of moves conveyed to a driverless car - easier and more efficiently than my turning my steering-wheel and applying brakes each time I approach those driveways? :?

Let's consider double amputees or other people that are physically unable to drive.

Ask Siri or Alexa to navigate it. I suspect that might prove better than many drivers that I see on the roads these days.

Very interesting point. I hadn't thought of that aspect. Thanks for that perspective, Rufus.

FDR had a specially adapted car, which he drove himself.

Pretty sure he had arms......

And while adaptations can be made, I think that there is a population that would benefit by being able to access transportation directly

One of the local TV stations has a roving reporter named Alexa Ashwell. Every time they cut to her the freakin' Echo goes crackers. Takes us ten minutes to get it to calm down, lol.
