Ideas on the 4 truck flatcar... Update* It's Parmele & Sturges
I just found this one. Frame is cast Al with a sheet top plate screwed from the top. You can see the brass span bolsters and Walthers trucks. Is this an Auel flat car kit built up or some other? Thanks.

I agree with Rufus, Auel was cast in Zamac, I have several kits and perhaps a built one. I also have others that are cast aluminum but none match Carey’s. All the usual cast aluminum suspects would have used more detailed castings.

Nice car; after a repaint. Someone used one different truck on one end.

Ha, I didn’t catch the truck mismatch before. I think I have a match for four spring trucks. Probably repaint in PRR colors at some point. I do agree it is a pretty simple casting, not a lot of detail.

The deck of the Auel cars had dimples or indents that were offset every other crosswise row. They were pictured in ads in certain issues of O Scale News 48/rt.

A little side note: The late Robert Parri worked for Mr. Auel

At some point...didn't Walthers make a 4 truck cast aluminum flatcar?

I finally found the source of my originally posted flat car, It's a Parmele & Sturges. I found another unbuilt kit with the instructions to document it.

Dredging this back up, but stumbled upon this Auel ad from I presume 2020?? Very interesting as they seem to offer individual replaceemnt parts for the trucks as well as the 200 ton flat. Price on the flat isn;t to bad considering a Lionel version would probably be well over a C note...

Anyone purchased any parts from them lately?

Fair enough. I sent an email, may try the number if that doesn't bounce back. Will let you know lol I seem to have a lot more "good" sideframes than bolsters so was hoping to pick some up. ALso have several pairs with the tinplate wheels and wide non detailed bolsters so would like to convert those to scale... We'll see all you can do is ask or follow up lol.
